CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Everything about it fit my personality and my needs, so I would definitely recommend it to friends. The people are great, the faculty are generally knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile for their students, and the location in the heart of New York City can't be beat.--Finance

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I met intelligent and fascinating people and made many new friends. The students, faculty, and administration were all superb. I received my first-choice summer internship and full-time job amid a very tough job market.--Finance

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] My MBA at Stern gave me the credibility I required to raise funds and start a company in New York. The location was instrumental in meeting the right people and making dreams a reality. I believe that this will only be possible at Stern. (Columbia is, unfortunately, way uptown and business is done downtown.)--Consulting

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] NYU is among the best business schools in the country without the arrogance that is common at other schools. The people here are great and that makes the experience all the more enjoyable.--Marketing

I would strongly urge friends or colleagues to enroll at NYU Stern because of its outstanding quantitative emphasis, esteemed faculty, diverse student body, location in downtown New York City, and emphasis on practical, readily usable skills.--Finance

I had the opportunity to participate in Stern’s COIN (Consulting Opportunities in Non-Profit) program. COIN enables graduate students to apply the management and technical skills acquired in business school to the non-profit sector to achieve the organization’s initiatives. As a consultant to the Urban Justice Center, I effectively created a proposal to the New York City council, which resulted in additional funding for the organization. The experience was invaluable and extremely rewarding. The experience also helped expand my career interests from finance to other areas such as community and economic development.--Finance

Stern has a program called Stern Consulting Corps, which is sponsored by the dean's office. Through this program, MBA students are placed in either small businesses or nonprofit organizations as consultants, and help these entities to enhance their operations. Assignments could include developing a marketing plan, helping manage or develop financial reporting systems, or developing a clear-cut strategy for the future. During these consulting engagements, MBAs were mentored by professional consultants from Booz Allen Hamilton and A.T. Kearney. The experience of working for an organization and helping them position its business or non-profit for success into the future was an incredibly satisfying experience. I'd like to clarify though, that this consulting engagement was not done through participation in a course, but was in fact structured like a paid internship.--Investment Banking

In my Brand Planning class, I had the opportunity to do a consulting engagement for Ferrari-Maserati. The experience was amazing. I really enjoyed being able to take the concepts learned in my classes and immediately apply them at Ferrari. The engagement allowed me to fully explore the concepts presented in class, and provided a great source of experience upon which to build my career.--Marketing

My decision to attend NYU Stern was an easy one after visiting the school and meeting the current students. The school seemed to attract brilliant but fun-loving types.--Finance

Getting my MBA from Stern has been so exciting -- brilliant professors, challenging work, interesting classmates, all in the middle of the most vibrant city in the World.--Consulting

The NYU Stern MBA program is a tremendous two-year experience. I learned an immense amount of real-world information that will be crucial to my job going forward as an investment banker. In addition, experiences like studying abroad in London, numerous team experiences, and the robust combination of "work and play" at NYU Stern definitely enhanced the two years spent at school.--Investment Banking

The consulting project provided another opportunity to apply the skills of our coursework to a real-life situation. The project also provided an additional team dynamic experience by allowing me to work with new individuals.--Consulting
