CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Our school offers a firm foundation of finance courses, which is very helpful to whatever field we'll go into after graduation.--Consulting
I would definitely recommend this program to colleagues who are intersted in getting a good education with a growing network of alumni.--Finance
The Simon School's faculty is extraordinary. Given the small size of the school, students have excellent access to the faculty at any moment. The Simon School has some of the best facilities I have come across.--Marketing
Based on my interaction with MBAs from other schols, I feel strongly that the education I received was on par or superior in most aspects to that received at otherwise more prestigious institutions. In addition to the education, the tireless work of our new dean convinces me of the growth prospects for Simon so much that I would suggest Simon as a wise choice to most prospective MBAs.--Finance
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] At Simon I developed a foundation for sound management techniques, gained exposure to all of the functional areas of business, and acquired an in-depth knowledge of individual and organizational behavior through participation in class and small study teams.--Finance
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The Simon school experience is one that emphasizes teamwork as well as individual contribution. Thus, we not only learn what is technically necessary, we also learn how to use it in a team setting. This is a skill that I feel is extremely important and is likely to be missing in other programs.--Marketing
I worked with a team of four MBAs from Simon on an actual brand management project for Kraft Foods USA, as a part of my Brand Management Workshop class. This project enhanced my learning experience since we worked on real market data on an actual project faced by Kraft Foods. We also analyzed the AC Nielsen scanner data about competition, studied consumer and market trends, and in general utilized all the frameworks and tools a brand manager uses at Kraft. At the end of the course, we presented our findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the Kraft USA brand managers.--Consulting
In Projects in Entrepreneurship (Kauffman Internship program), students were assigned to small Rochester-area start-ups to contribute and learn about the venture-capital/start-up process. It was very informative and practical experience.--Finance
We worked with Proctor & Gamble on their Swiffer product line for our Brand Management Class and with Sprint in our Distribution & Salesforce Managment class. In both cases we had access to data from the companies, the ability to ask questions to the companies, and presented our findings to representatives of the companies. It gave us more exposure to working on projects as we would in the business world.--Not Available
Simon was well worth the investment. The rigorous core program lasting the first six months was excellent. I am confident my busines training is equal to and most likely superior to other top programs.--Finance
What I'll reminisce about the most from my days at Simon will be the friendships I developed with the other students and faculty while there. Simon is not a place to go if you want an easy education. From the first week on, students can expect to put in a considerable amount of time into their studies. Also, we are not guaranteed a good grade here. A percentage of students get C's and B's in each course. Given the workload and academic pressures, Simon would not be as enjoyable if it weren't for the fantastic people there. I have developed many friendships among my fellow students. Furthermore, many of my professors have encouraged future contact regarding inquiries into their research and, in some cases, developments in my own career progress. No doubt, I will remain connected with Simon and its alumni after I am done here.--Consulting
At Simon, I had many opportunities to lead and excel. I feel this was the most amazing two years of my life, and I learned a great deal. I had two fantastic salaried internships, created a student organization, and worked on teams that solved actual business problems for leading firms in several industries. While I know that other schools may have offered more networking opportunities, few would have permitted so many leadership opportunities. I am glad to have gone to Simon.--Marketing
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The William E. Simon School of Graduate Business Administration MBA Program offers a high-level faculty and an outstanding learning experience. The diversity of students also plays a crucial role in providing a wide exchange of culture and knowledge. The alumni network is strong and allows students to be more effective when seeking internships and full-time positions.--Finance
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] The project I worked on allowed me to work with a Fortune 500 company and truly take a hands-on approach to solving one of its current business problems.--Marketing
The school is going through deep positive changes that will impact the overall contribution of the program to students, thanks to the new dean. I expect the school to greatly improve in the rankings in the near future, as current students improve their perception of the program.--Finance
