CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

The MBA program in Queen's School of Business is an exciting experience. Its unique team-based work environment is the best simulation for future jobs. Queen's School of Business is not only a place to learn business knowledge, but also a place to learn how to be a better human being. The reputation and prestige of Queen's University also make us feel proud. I will recommend this program to my friends.--Marketing

This is the best MBA program for those who have strong work experience and want to advance their career by understanding the essence of business.--Entrepreneurship

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The program provides the required business tools for individuals with a technology background -- with minimal time away from work (only 12 months).--Information Technology

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] We had the opportunity to interview the management of a company, conduct a stakeholder analysis, come up with recommendations, present recommendations, and then get the feedback. The project was difficult as there were many avenues that could be explored.--Consulting

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It provided me with a hands-on experience in dealing with current real-world challenges for two small businesses. It taught me about personal realtionships, issues, and priorities among management. It afforded me the opportuntiy to prove my ability to arrive at tangible recommendations and gave me a sense of satisfaction when my recommendations were looked upon as useful.--Marketing

We worked with a small company based in Ottawa for our business-strategy course. We had a chance to see how real the problems are (for example, cash flow) and how this negates a number of possible solutions simply because the cash is not there to support the change. Most times in a classroom setting you ignore some of these hurdles.--Consulting

Using a real-world case increased the "stakes" of the project and allowed for the opportunity to see the implementation of our work. It was an extremely useful and practical way to integrate and apply the knowledge we have learned.--Venture Capital/Private Equity

We conducted a strategic consulting project for a Canadian firm. It was a complete strategic planning process; at the end, we gave a presentation to the firm and faculty. I was the lead on that project. It was different to do it actually than learning only from books.--Marketing

The real-life situation helped to illustrate the concepts we had discussed in class.--Finance

The intensity in which we learn, grow, and reflect at the Queen's School of Business is outstanding. The one-year program allows you to step back for 12 months and absorb the lessons and experiences of a quality MBA while not adversely effecting your pocketbook. The team-based model at Queen's is also very similar to the high-performance teams that I have been a part of in high-performance athletics -- everyone on my team felt as though they were the weakest link.--Not Available

The one-year program, the collegial atmosphere, and the depth of teaching all make this an outstanding program. It is very much a family environment, and the small size of the class makes it very easy to get to know all of your classmates. The teaching is outstanding. There are one or two bad apples, but ignoring those, the instructors' knowledge, teaching ability, and willingness to help students really make this a top-notch program.--Consulting

I performed due diligence on a medical devices company. This venture capital project performed for the Business Development Bank of Canada integrated many of the concepts that I had learned during the MBA and gave me a chance to put them all together.--Venture Capital/Private Equity

The Queen's MBA program is a niche program that does a truly outstanding job meeting the needs of that niche community. It does not try to be all things to all people. The team environment is, I believe, second-to-none. I was on a team of six people for the entire year, and these folks contributed a huge amount to my success and happiness while in the program. The Queens staff and faculty really pay attention to each of us in this small program.--Consulting
