CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] As one-year programs go, this is an excellent program worth undertaking. Two caveats: 1.) A one-year program is not for everyone. There are tradeoffs, and applicants need to be sure they are willing to accept them. 2.) It still lacks the brand power of INSEAD or LBS, so don't expect to land interviews on the strength of the Oxford MBA alone.--Not Available

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Said is one of the most international schools. The diversity among both students and faculty is its best feature, a part from its academic quality. The school has great potential and the dean and his team are well-qualified to realize this potential. The school has the makings of the greats like Harvard, Wharton, and LBS. One unique feature of Said is its being part of Oxford -- an experience that is hardly matched by any other university in the world. Though its intensity may be overwhelming sometimes, a one-year program usually takes half the time and money of a two-year program.--Nonprofit

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The Oxford MBA is an ambitious program that is still working through its "startup" issues. Its curriculum, teaching quality, reputation, and career services are all improving by leaps and bounds year by year. I would highly recommend the program to anyone who wants to be exposed to a truly international faculty and student body, prefers a one-year program, and desires that "exotic" Oxford experience.--Consulting

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] We learned so much about the entertainment industry in such a short amount of time. We got to network and interface with top professionals in the field, learn lots about about the financial and social impact of the businesses in this sector, and got to apply the frameworks we learned in new and exciting ways.--Consulting

My team engaged in a research study for the leading media and communications private equity firm in the U.K. Our work has given each of us an expansive understanding of historic and potential deal activity within 52 subsectors and, our subsequent analysis of these findings, will form the cornerstone of a 500 million Euro funding round for the firm. It was a great intellectual challenge and a phenomenally effective demonstration of the practical ramifications of our training as Oxford MBAs.--Not Available

We worked with Microsoft to evaluate the "go to market" and customer-engagement process in large enterprise customers. This was tied into a 15,000 word paper, but the real learning came from the in-depth interaction with the managers at Microsoft.--Marketing

During the program I had the opportunity to consult with HP in Barcelona and Macquarie Bank in London. Both of these opportunities were immensely helpful in putting concepts to work and realizing practical outcomes and recommendations.--Consulting

Oxford was really perfect for me and my interests. Its emphasis on social entrepreneurship was right up my alley, and the speed and intensity of the course were just right. The school is young and growing, but it is trying hard to become a top-tier school, and I am convinced that it will get there. The best students at SBS compare favorably with the best students anywhere, and the warmth and diversity of the student body make it a uniquely fun and rewarding place to spend a year. I have profited richly from my time at SBS and will remember the school with nothing but gratitude and fondness.--Consulting

I had access to the most intellectually gifted, culturally diverse, and remarkable student body I could ever imagine.--Entrepreneurship

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The association of being integrated within the University of Oxford provides many wonderful and unique opportunities. Moreover, the administration's dedication to constantly improving the MBA course, the quality of speakers, the dedication and experience of the professors, and the extremely diverse student body set Oxford a part from every other MBA program in the world.--Investment Banking

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Said is a program on the verge of great things. In its ninth year, it is exciting to be part of a startup school. Quality teachers, great classes and the unique lifestyle of Oxford make it worth considering.--Entrepreneurship

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] We were assigned to develop an investment plan for an Australian company listed on the ASX. Working together in teams of four and traveling to Kalgoorlie, Australia and learning about a completely new industry and creating value was immensely rewarding. This was a highlight of the MBA.--Finance

I worked for one month with a team of three other students in a cross-cultural consultancy assignment for the largest wine producer in the world. We traveled to Australia and China for research (two Chinese, two Western students on our team) and determined a marketing strategy that will have real impact for this fascinating company. It was a great project.--Entrepreneurship
