CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS
If I had friends who wanted to do an international-focused MBA, then I would urge them to attend MBS, but only if I thought they would be a good fit.--Consulting
If you would gain practical knowledge and skills through an MBA course, you should choose MBS. Project-based programs would give you precious opportunities to gain consulting skills in various industries.--Not Available
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It was a phenomenal learning experience working on live consulting assignments, especially in terms of soft skills such as managing client expectations, delivering to tight deadlines, etc.--Marketing
Manchester Busieness School arguably has the best consulting exposure af all business schools. I did six very different projects for real companies, for which three of them I even got paid -- from Procter & Gamble to a small startup in England, from ABC costing, a startup business plan, to the evaluation of production of products in China and Mexico.--Finance
Sitting in a classroom is no substitute for actually doing! Working with clients who had real money invested was invaluable. The clients could care less if you were students or not -- they were paying a fee and expected results. There was no mollycoddling from either the clients or the school. You had to learn to produce the results and that was that. By far, it was the best part of the course.--Consulting
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It enabled us to apply learned theory to the business environment in various ways.--Finance
The Manchester program had a particular emphasis on practical projects that most other U.K. schools don't have. This is why I chose it and it met all expectations in that regard.--Consulting
The MBA program at MBS was unique and provides an excellent learning environment for anyone looking for a program with a hands-on teaching methodology and a high international element.--Marketing
Early on I participated in a market research project for a United Nations agency -- this complemented the marketing research courses covered in Marketing Foundation. Toward the end of the program, I was a member of a team developing a European marketing strategy for a global accounting-services provider -- this project enabled the team to draw on experiences from several electives such as strategy, marketing, and organizational behavior.--Finance
Our project was a pricing project with a Fortune 500 company. It taught us a great deal about using the more advanced features of different software. The project also involved traveling to several European countries to conduct interviews and meetings with senior management. Dealing with such professionals who had been in the business for so many years taught us a lot about preparation, presentation, and being thorough in one's proposals.--Investment Banking
