CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I think the development experience and the opportunity to interact with so many international students makes an MBA at London Business School an incredibly attractive option. The cost is undeniably high, but the personal and professional benefits are far in excess of this.--Investment Banking

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] For me, the MBA provided a fantastic period of self-reflection and self-improvement. Crucial to that was the wonderful group of students at LBS -- smart and ambitious but also sincere and interesting. After going on exchange to another top school (MIT Sloan), I don't hesitate to recommend LBS to friends and colleagues -- I know that other schools do not provide as stimulating an environment as LBS does.--Marketing

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I am extremely happy with the quality of faculty and students at London Business School. I was able to secure my dream job, and I have had a very international experience at the school and through my exchange program. I also believe my perspective has widened a lot as a result of the program.--Consulting

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] At London Business School, MBA students can get top-quality education. The program is designed in a similar way as most top American B-Schools but what makes it unique is its international atmosphere. Also, living in London provides students with unsurpassed social and travel opportunities. The school's location gives students access to top employers.--Finance

While not right for everyone, the LBS MBA is a truly transformational experience, and I have recommended it to friends both in the United States and Europe, who are looking at an international career in business.--Marketing

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] The ability to work alongside some of the leading fund managers in the London market and offer them suggestions on how they could streamline their processes and drive their performance was very rewarding.--Investment Banking

In study group teams, we sourced and carried out projects for Save the Children, Japan Tobacco, and Innocent Drinks. In all three cases, we provided useful analysis for the organization and found the application of theory to the real world really helped us learn the material and gave us confidence in its value.--Venture Capital/Private Equity

As part of the second-year curriculum, students are required (in pairs) to complete a massive consulting project, usually paid for by the client company. I conducted research work for a global shipping company on the prospects for fossil fuel import and export in China. It called upon several areas of my business school curriculum, including economics, international trade, market analysis, modeling, etc. It was a difficult project for a discerning client, but all in all, a wonderful complement to the MBA coursework.--Marketing

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] This project not only enhanced my learning experience, but it was also how I got the great job that I did. After presenting the results of the project to the company's board I received a job offer that was just what I was searching for. So I could say that thanks to this project, I got my dream job.--Entrepreneurship

We wrote a business plan for a startup company that was looking for funding. The development of the plan used the skills we had acquired and helped us develop new ones (such as consulting, etc.)--Investment Banking

I have consulted for Microsoft and BT as part of B-school classes. Learning how companies really work and implementing academic concepts in real-life scenarios were highly important to my learning experience.--Consulting

It was crucial for me to be in a big city, so that my husband could work and enhance his career at the same time. London was perfect for that.--Marketing

After doing an exchange program to Stern in the United States, I was able to see how international and how high the quality of students at London Business school actually are. I was accepted into a higher-rated school (Harvard) but have found London to exceed expectations with regard to qualty of students and support from the administration.--Consulting

There should be more cold-calling. It teaches students to think on their feet, a vital skill when solving problems and interviewing.--Marketing

I strongly recommend LBS for three reasons: 1.) There is a gap (especially in France) between the business knowledge we get "on the ground" and what we can learn from world-class faculty and students. 2.) The diversity of the student body is amazing. It is a great way to prepare for international business and build one's network abroad. 3.) It was great fun!--Consulting

In our core course on organizational behavior, my study group analyzed a rapidly growing media company and wase able to identify a number of constraints on growth resulting from organizational difficulties (founder personality, poor communication). As I plan to be an entrepreneur, I will bear in mind these constraints to pre-empt them in my own business.--Entrepreneurship

Besides the educational and networking experience of an MBA, it is great way to spend two years working for yourself and for yourself alone. This way, the work pressure is completely different and, as a result, I have found myself working harder than ever before. This also allows you time to reflect upon your life and your future expectations, almost the most important part of taking two years "off." I personally, for example, have decided that a career is not the most important thing in life, nor is it the most important result of having an MBA.--Consulting

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] It depends on their personal expectations and life aspirations. I would definitely recommend an MBA at London Business School to those who would like to achieve success in their business career in Europe.--Consulting

I was involved in a consulting project for the Prince's Trust in coordination with New Sector Alliance (Social Enterpreurship Organization) and Accenture. A project partner and I were given full responsibility for the project -- from the inception stage to gathering research and analysis, to interviewing client and people relevant to the project, to finally presenting to the Prince's Trust Board. The feedback we got was great, and the Prince's Trust is now looking to implement our recommendation.--Finance

The most amazing surprise for me was the level of the finance department at LBS. The fact the the school is in the heart of the biggest financial market in Europe also contributes to the finance environment. Needless to say, the diversity in the classroom greatly enhanced the discussions and the quality of the education.--Finance
