CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS
Yes, I would definately encourage my friends to enroll in the Iowa MBA program. The student/teacher ratio is small and the faculty is outstanding. It was a great investment for me. My salary has more than doubled, and I am in a much better position than before getting my MBA.--Operations
After attending school, I know feel that the decision to complete a full-time MBA is dependent upon needed skills and current career position. I feel that given my previous title and salary, and having a BSBA, I most likely would have been better off in a part-time evening program. For many students, who are career-switchers or need to develop analytical skills, the experience is well worth the time and cost.--Finance
I did urge my friends to try Iowa. I would recommend any of my friends, who are ambitious, smart, caring about the true value of the program, and have monetary concerns, to apply to Iowa's Tippie MBA program. It's amazing how much you can learn here and how nice the folks you can meet in Iowa City are.--Investment Banking
I participated in three different marketing projects that utilized skills such as creativity, strategy, sales, and research.--Marketing
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It was good to be in the quasi-role of a consultant to a real business. Applying the models of the classrooom to real-world situations was a good opportunity. This facilitated both remembering the most important models and getting the first opportunity to apply them while still in the role of a student.--Marketing
We had a valuation case for the course Security Analysis. It helped me learn in the real world how to value a company with limited information.--Investment Banking
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The program is comprehensive and will prepare students for future challenges. I would recommend the program strongly and explain the program's strengths and weaknesses.--Finance
I took the opportunity to visit a number of companies on-site and advise them on how they could improve their situation. It was a great opportunity to apply theory to practice.--Marketing
I participated in a team responsible for designing and conducting market analysis for a new product. It was an opportunity to actually apply concepts we learned in class, which is the best possible way to learn.--Not Available
[Did consulting project enhance learning?] The experiences allowed the students to participate in real-life situations rather than textbook cases. I learned about the companies, industry, and products in more depth than I would have otherwise, and in a more interesting manner. The projects also allowed for additional experience to interact with the client's management.--Operations
You won't meet better people than you will at Iowa. There are virtually no jerks, which, for a business school, is really saying something. The diversity of the student body is surprising and striking both ethinically and intellectually. I've had a helluva time, and I'll miss this place a lot.--Marketing
