CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The school offers a great learning experience for people who wish to acquire overall business and management knowledge, while being out of the job market for only one year. The school offers an intensive one-year program and low tuition.--Finance

If my friends wanted to go into business or upgrade their business skill set, I would strongly reccomend HEC. I would do this because of the confidence that the school has instilled in me and my colleagues, and the confidence I have in the school, the teachers, and its adminstrators. Quite frankly, this school means "business." You go in green but you come out a whole lot wiser, prepared, and confident to tackle any situation. It is no wonder that the schools' alumni are doing so well. Moreover, I would recommend this school because it allows a student to take courses in two languages for the most part -- some courses are offered in three languages. And this makes more sense in today's global business world.--Entrepreneurship

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] It's very important to me that the program lasts for 12 months, is multilingual, and not very expensive.--Marketing

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] The project was for one of the leading consulting companies of North America. It was perfectly in line with what we had learned during the program and gave us an excellent opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge. Moreover, during this intense project with a short deadline, we not only got the hands-on experience but also polished our organizing, managing, negotiating, and analytical skills.--Marketing

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] Building a business plan for a newly created division allowed us to apply marketing and entrepreneurship skills.--Finance

[Did consulting project enhance learning?] It helped me to get back in touch with the reality of the business world after a period of merely academic analysis.--Marketing

I worked on a real estate development project in Bariloche, Argentina. I learned a great deal about real estate, financial analysis, and the Argentinean culture. It greatly reinforced learnings across a number of courses. It wasn't most critical to know how to crunch the numbers but how to learn about the culture and how it would impact the development.--Entrepreneurship

The quality classroom education I received, particularly in finance and strategic management, was outstanding. I also find my fellow students to be one of the most rewarding parts of the MBA experience. HEC adequately equipped me with skills to get into the management consulting and investment banking field. However, its MBA career service needs to do more than just send e-mails with employment opportunities already published on the Internet.--Not Available

The HEC-Montreal MBA energy major would definitely enable my colleagues and friends to improve their knolwdge of the energy sector and their management abilities.--Not Available

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] It's convinient to do an MBA program in one year with completing all the courses that other univerities give in two years. In addition, it has a very balanced and complete program that offers a wide range of courses. Finaly it combines both cultures -- the American and the European.--Entrepreneurship

I've realized that the return on investment for my MBA program fairly compensates the lost opportunity while doing a full-time program. The multicultural atmosphere, teamwork, and the extracurricular activities made the program so lively.--Not Available

I was a member of a team project to examine the business strategy of YachtSmiths International (YSI), a Nova Scotia-based boat builder specializing in the construction of large (60 to 70 ft.), fully customized, luxury ($1 to $2 million) yachts. Our mission was to analyze how IT can play a role in supporting the company’s business goals. Finally, we outlined the risks involved and proposed IT solutions in terms of priorities and budget constraints in a final report and presentation. This project lasted six weeks and was very useful to acquire a good understanding of the IT consulting business.--Not Available

It was an intensive 53-week program. This was another major factor supporting my decision to enroll. I don't think I would have had the financial resources for a longer program. It was the best way I found to make a quick, and (I hope) profitable spinoff of my career.--Marketing

HEC is the best kept secret in North America: A dynamic school that is evolving rapidly and will become one of the top program in the years to come. The return on investment and the short duration make it a more logical choice.--Finance
