CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The program is rigorous and teaches MBA candidates to truly be leaders of business. The professors are of exceptional quality and provide ample opportunity for communication, networking, and career advancement.--Finance

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Georgia Tech has an excellent MBA program. Professors and students have outstanding backgrounds. Professors, in particular, brought a vast knowledge of the newest business and technology trends. Students are very bright, diverse, and friendly. The course offerings were very diverse even for the small size of the program. I struggled every semester to narrow down which electives I had time to take because there were so many interesting classes offered. Additionally, because Tech is located in Atlanta there were several great local Fortune 500 companies that interviewed at our school. It was very easy to travel to interviews and several students, including myself, did not have to move after graduation to work for a large company. Because the school focuses on technology, there were also a lot of opportunities to work for up and coming start-ups for those students who were interested. The school works very hard to stay connected to the many professional organizations in Atlanta allowing students to make oustanding contacts.--Operations

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I think it depends on the desires of the applicant. The Georgia Tech Business School met my requirements which were good location, good value, full-time top-50 program with concentrations in finance/operations available. If others are looking for the same thing, then yes, I would encourage them.--Finance

We worked with a medical clinic trying to relieve their wait time issues. It was great to apply our knowledge in a practical setting. The company was impressed with our presentation, and it really brought the class to life. I think a consulting project with an existing company is a must in business school.--Finance

I competed in a real estate competition for the National Association of Indstrial and Office Properties. The company we were consulting for was an Atlanta industrial park owner who is very well known in the city. The owner was trying to determine whether the company should redevelop the land and if so how. I was hungry to take what I had learned in my classes and in my internship at JP Morgan and apply it in a real-world project. I learned a ton and worked with various people in the industry whom I might not have had the chance to know otherwise. We also incorporated this into an internal competition at Georgia Tech where we competed against our classmates and discussed the case in depth in class and with our real estate alumni.--Finance

Consulting projects are an integral part of the curriculum. From six-sigma methodologies to project-management exposure, the opportunities for consulting were numerous. The scope of the consulting experiences were appropriate for MBAs, with a collaborative relationship between professor and company leadership to ensure our success and to leverage cross-team knowledge exchanges. Experiences provided some significant topics of conversation for interviews in communicating the true application of knowledge in the real world. For the most part, all projects revolved around leading-edge topics within the industry, another plus for interviews and personal growth.--Information Technology

I participated in several consulting projects with top corporations such as Kimberly-Clark, the Home Depot, and UPS. These projects were great opportunities to interact with company leaders, to understand businesses and current challenges, to bring theory into practice, and to develop recommendations.--Human Resources

Georgia Tech offers an outstanding program. I felt I was challenged by the level of the class work and by my peers. The program has a great degree of diversity (many international students and many students with different backgrounds) and also offers a focus on quantitative material. The only reason Tech is not ranked higher in the national rankings is because it lacks the prestige and tradition of some of the top programs. I would bet on a Georgia Tech grad against anyone from Havard or Stanford any day.--Consulting

I feel that Georgia Tech's MBA program is the best value around. Our new building in Technology Square is incredible, the administration is very responsive to student feedback (like offering a six-sigma elective), the class is very diverse, and the program leverages the school's technology and entreprenuership strengths. I have no regrets about leaving [my job] to return to get my MBA. I am leaving with no school loans and have accepted a great offer from Honeywell.--Operations

Especially for certain specialties, such as Operations and Accounting, Georgia Tech has a great program. But the best thing about the program is its students. I learned so much from my peers, and the atmosphere is not competitive.--Not Available

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The experience is great, especially if you come from a different country. The MBA program at Georgia Tech allowed me to improve my technical background and improve my experiece in operations and technology.--Operations

Overall, I had a very good experience at Georgia Tech. I particularly appreciated the small class size and the access to professors. Those issues were very important to me in choosing to go there. I had planned to apply to Emory as well, but had such a positive experience meeting members of the administration at Tech, that I chose to go there and not apply to Emory.--Nonprofit
