CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] Although I was accepted to higher-ranked schools (Darden and Babcock), I chose Terry because 1.) I feel that most B-schools in the top 50 provide the same type and quality of education. 2.) Terry was very affordable (50% or so of the students receive graduate assistantships, which reduce their tuition to less than $1,000 per year). 3.) Terry has a terrific real estate concentration.--Not Available
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] The school has a comprehensive curriculum, very high teaching standards, and excellent professors. The class size is small (only 50 students), so that each student has easy access to the professors, and there is a close bond with fellow students as well as with the professors and the administration.--Not Available
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the University of Georgia. My classmates were vital in the education process, providing me a vast amount of knowledge regarding scholastics, business categories, and life experiences. When encompassing the staff, professors and students the University of Georgia MBA program exemplified a team effort and was a catalyst in finding opportune employment. My intentions when I decided to pursue my MBA degree was to better myself and help me find a career, which I believe UGA helped me to accomplish.--Not Available
The consulting project not only gave me a glimpse into the real world of being a consultant, but it provided me with skills and experience that have helped me tremendously in starting my own company. It was a great chance to use classroom knowledge and personal talent in a real-life setting.--Marketing
In a risk-management class held in Spring 2004, we were divided into teams of five and were asked to assess a variety of risks for BellSouth on a broad perspective. We were also asked to delve deeper and to critically analyze its D&O risk factors. This project further assisted in my teamwork experience and use of the risk-management software @RISK.--Not Available
It is a fantastic school with a completely useless career-services department. I do believe, however, that the school is making an improvement in time for next year's class.--Consulting
For people who truly want a learning experience, the University of Georgia is the best choice out there. I truly had the chance to learn whatever it was I wanted to learn. The professors were the most amazing educators with whom I have ever had the privelege to work. If you want more than just a piece of paper with the word "MBA" on it, University of Georgia is the school for you.--Marketing
[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I am from Turkey. The USA is a relatively expensive country. Terry College of Business provides merit-based assistantships to help successful candidates from overseas make their dreams come true. Compared to what I spent, I believe that I got lots more in return. The small class size (only 130 students in the whole MBA program), some of the best professors in their areas, and the beautiful University of Georgia campus (with lively Athens nearby) added to my overall gain from my MBA experience.--Operations
At UGA, above all, the experience of the professors impressed me, and the focus on teamwork was invaluable.--Marketing
When you're in school, you tend to find yourself in the academic tunnel and viewing things too much "by the books." Projects with outside companies often helped us change the way we traditionally think, which is why I came to B-school, to go above and beyond traditional thought.--Not Available
The small size of the Georgia MBA program is a tremendous benefit in terms of academic quality, but a tremendous hindrance in terms of career placement and recruiting.--Nonprofit
The Terry College of Business provided a great bang for my buck. Great financial incentives attract extremely intelligent students from various walks of life. As a result of my MBA, I now know so much more about what it takes to run and sustain a successful business as well as what truly makes an investment opportunity attractive. There is no better place to be a starving college student than in Athens, Ga.--Not Available
