CLASS OF 2004 GRADUATE COMMENTS

I think Boston College is an excellent program for people who are looking for an intimate experience with professors, fellow students and administration. However, the program is team-based and does not foster any competitiveness. This could be viewed as a plus for some, but I view it as unbalanced, given the competitive nature of business in general. For the right person who has an internal desire to excel, it is geat. Someone looking for a competitor to help kick him to a higher level should consider a different school.--Operations

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I was a dual degree JD/MBA student. I came into contact with a lot of other first- and second-year law students who asked whether the MBA was worth it. I will be practicing in Corporate Restructuring and obtained a concentration in finance for my MBA. Aside from making law review, I think that the MBA greatly assisted me in obtaining a position as both a summer associate and incoming associate; I've related this point to other law students who contacted me regarding my experience.--Not Available

Boston College maintains a very personalized program that provides you with the fundamental tools to succeed in business. Because of the size of the program, there is a community feel.--Finance

BC provided a challenging and rewarding program. The small class size and cooperative atmosphere enhanced the experience. I feel that I am well prepared to be competitive in the workforce. I will encourage my friends returning to school to seriously consider the BC MBA program.--Consulting

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] It is a collborative learning environment that focuses on teams and diversity, which helps students garner the tools they will need in the business world. Further, it is a small program where students are encouraged to help each other out, become life long friends, and network. The school has an extremely strong and helpful alumni network, and the school at large has a great sense of pride. I am proud to be a BC alum and join the others who have gone before me.--Operations

Our consulting project was a research-based finance project for a venture-capital firm. The activity was directly related and immediately applicable to my other courses, as well as with my future career.--Finance

The experience with my consulting project was unique. It offered me an opportunity to understand how a nonprofit organization functions and to apply business disciplines and analytical skills in a nonprofit setting.--Finance

The consulting project was a successful way for the students to gain real-world experience while still in an academic setting. The program offered challenging business issues and valid experiences to draw upon as we looked toward summer internships and potential jobs.--Consulting

The consulting project was one of the most valuable experiences I had while attending business school. My team was provided with an opportunity to analyze the strategic positioning of a not-for-profit company. This included exposure to all of the aspects of this company. It was similar to rewriting the company business plan. We were also afforded the chance to present our findings to several boards that make the decisions for the company.--Marketing

I had two consulting projects. The first gave me experience leading a team, knowledge of a new industry, and research and assessment skills. The second project was in the industry I am pursuing. This project gave me further experience leading a team, exposure to individuals in the industry, and knowledge of what is important to the players in the industry. In both cases immediately applying the skills we learned in class helped me to retain and better understand marketing techniques.--Not Available

It was an opportunity for me to work with an incredible health care company. For someone who has been dedicated to finance and investments it was a great opportunity to expand my knowledge base and get an experience I would not have had otherwise. It was one of the better parts of the MBA program and something I will value for a long time.--Finance

I constantly encourage people to consider and enroll in Boston College's MBA program for a variety of reasons: alumni network, Boston College's reputation as a university, the MBA Program's reputation, outstanding and accessible faculty, the business plan and consulting programs that take place during the first year, the high caliber of the students who attend the program, and the strong sense of community that exists within the program.--Nonprofit

[Recommend program to friends/colleagues?] I think BC was great. It's a bit small so the offerings are limited. On the other hand, everyone including the administration knows who you are and your name.--Consulting

Our consulting project takes place over one entire semester and is focused on solving real problems. This project is managed closely by the director as well as by a team of second year students. The opportunity to spend an entire semester working directly with an external organization greatly enhanced my learning experience by giving me real-world experience in a team setting with high expectations of our outcomes.--Nonprofit
