Technology changes made over the past three years:
Krannert just opened its newest facility, the $35 million Rawls Hall, adding about130,000 square feet of classroom and learning space to the Krannert complex, and has high-speed data ports for each student seat in the classrooms and wireless connectivity throughout the building. Each classroom contains high-end audio, video, and lighting, and is distance-learning ready. Rawls also has a distance learning and video production center in addition to a 40-station computer lab dedicated to the master's students. Other investments include installation of a video conference classroom in the executive education center, a wireless network; support and e-mail/calendar synchronization for PDAs in all common-area computer stations and labs. Katalyst, an academic, administrative, and communications portal for master's students, launched in 1999, received significant upgrades. The school continued offering video-streamed lectures to/from remote locations for guest speakers, joint courses with our sister school, GISMA, in Germany, and other distance learning situations. An in-house chatspace to host live chat room discussions with current and prospective students was also launched.
