TECHNOLOGY

Technology changes made over the past three years:
- Each of the classrooms has had extensive renovation which includes a presenter's podium with built-in items like VCRs, DVD players, cable TV access, laptop connectivity, etc.
- Portal software was purchased and is currently being deployed to create a personalized Web environment for the SOM community.
- SOM Network has been upgraded to 10/100 switched Ethernet network.
- Wireless access points were added throughout the school and libraries. Wireless coverage is now available through 95% of the school and immediate surrounding area.
- All student study space was wired for network connectivity.
- Citrix Terminal Services was added to allow the delivery of software to students while they are connected to the network from any location, including personal laptops.
- Research computing has implemented cluster computing. A cluster of 45 servers was purchased for advanced computation and research capabilities.
- Research capabilities increased with the purchase of new software and hardware including the installation of a new PhD workspace with high performance research computing servers and networking.
- Cable television access was added to classrooms, including ability to broadcast throughout the University.
- Video conferencing capability was added to classrooms.
- Public computing clusters have been routinely upgraded to maintain fast, high quality computers.
- New generation of E-mail services released (Exchange 2000.) Student e-mail quotas tripled to 75 MBs.
- Personal online network storage increased to 250 MBs per student.
- General Motors room was upgraded to provide self-service presentation capability which includes a sound system, projector, VCR, and DVD player.
- Presentation and network technologies were added to the Horchow Seminar Room. This includes a 3M Wall Display that connects to a VCR, digital document camera and a presentation station.
- Publicly accessible 'publishing stations' are now available. Each station includes burnable CD-rom, scanner, OCR and desktop publishing, and Web editing software.

The B-school has awarded 4,516 MBA degrees since its founding. It has 4,562 living MBA alumni, and 184 MBA club(s) throughout 38 countries, where B-school alums can participate in school activities and alumni events.
During the past 12 months, 52% of alumni gave to the school's fund-raising efforts. They gave a median gift of U.S. $100, and a mean gift of U.S. $413. The school has not received a gift in excess of U.S. $10 million between Jan. 2001 and Oct. 2003, and the B-school endowment is U.S. $272,961,747

Clarification on Guaranteed Loans: Yale SOM offers international students the SOM GATE Loan that does not require a U.S. co-signer. Under this program students may borrow up to $52,000 during their two years at Yale SOM.
