CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

The class of 2002 played an integral part in building and strengthening the program in terms of expectations. We remained proactive with requests for new and challenging course offerings and other necessary changes, which were met by the administration. These and future changes will continue to increase the value of the program, making it a good choice for anyone pursuing an MBA. -- Investment Banking

My experience at Cox School of Business was extremely positive. With the class size, I felt that I was given the opportunity to become familiar with the faculty and administration. I became involved in many extra-curricular activities that I may not have been able to at other schools. -- Finance

I had a great experience at a great program. Cox has a number of opportunities despite its small size. It's also located in a great town for business, Dallas. Finally, I would not have obtained the skills that I learned from my previous employer, both academic and soft (networking, presentations, etc.). All in all, I went back to school to change career paths, and the Cox MBA experience will help me do this. Unfortunately, the economic downturn has forced me to be patient. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

The caliber of the students at Cox is second to none. I found my classmates to be bright, friendly, and competitive, in a healthy way. Such classmates simply enhanced what was already a tremendous educational experience. -- Finance

SMU provided not only the necessary hard business skills, but we also received an equal dose of soft business skills in networking, presenting, and negotiating. The school's executive network, Business Leadership Center, and the Global Leadership Program made this all possible. -- Consulting

Cox School of Business is a very small program and, as a result, the professors take a vested interest in the learning experience. The atmosphere is competitive but not cutthroat. The GLP program is extraordinary. I was able to travel to Asia, something that I have always wanted to do but did not expect to do so early. -- Marketing

Cox is filled with such wonderful, smart, and bright students that I often learned from my classmates. The professors are some of the greatest in the world and I feel privileged to have studied under them. The staff was supported and more like a family than just administration. -- Marketing

SMU is a school clearly on the rise. The Dean has a clear understanding of what it takes to compete with the top ten schools and is making the changes as well as incorporating some unique programs that can't be found other places. Overall, the personal attention you receive at SMU, combined with opportunities like the Global Leadership Program, make it an exceptional learning environment. -- Marketing

The program was rewarding and the ties to the Dallas business community were truly valuable. -- Finance

People who have studied liberal arts or sciences during undergraduate work, benefit most in this degree. There is such a great learning curve that from day one, I was challenged while those from business backgrounds reviewed and expanded their knowledge base until they passed core classes. I will definitely recommend Cox's program. -- Management

The Cox School emphasized a broad spectrum of needed skills and aptitudes upon graduation. Many times these skills and opportunities are overlooked by an MBA program. -- Marketing

[Do you feel you could have learned as much from a distance-learning MBA program?] The level of interaction between students, teachers, business leaders, and alumni at SMU's MBA program could not have been duplicated through a distance-learning program. -- Consulting

The value of anything in life, including the two years you spend at an MBA program, is what YOU make of it. I achieved everything that I sought from my SMU experience. -- Finance
