CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

Fuqua offers such a balanced program -- from teamwork to individual study, from great sports to academic competitions, etc. It is a generalist program so you can enjoy a variety of subjects from quality professors; it is not strictly a "finance" or "marketing" school. I certainly felt very challenged and felt my money was well worth it. Plus, Durham was a great area to study in -- not distracted by city life and situated in a very academic/research oriented geographical area of the country. -- Finance

I think Fuqua has incredible faculty that make the learning experience fantastic here, but perhaps that is not so unique in top tier MBA programs. What truly differentiates this school is the level of student involvement in all aspects of the program: academic, social, career search, and community volunteerism. Fuqua pushes students to excel both inside and outside the classroom, creating a truly unique experience. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

Fuqua provides an excellent education. The school attracts students that are very smart, but are also non-competitive with one another. I have NEVER had an experience (or heard of one) where a Fuqua student was unwilling to help another student. The location is great, and you can't beat the basketball games! (I'm not even a sports fan, but somehow you get swept up in the spirit). -- Marketing

I considered many different schools before deciding to attend Fuqua. My decision was based on the extremely cordial culture I experienced upon visiting as well as the dynamic people I met, although the other schools had very dynamic people as well. In the end, my experience here at Fuqua has been absolutely stellar! Even in light of the weak economy, the school services have greatly exceeded my expectations. I have many friends at other schools who are without any opportunities for full time employment, while I am fortunate to have had a number of opportunities. While I am unaware of the percentage of my class that has offers, 100% of my friends that wanted a typical job (typical from the stand point that the company recruits on campus) had offers. I think this is a testament to the fine work our career services office is doing. -- Consulting

Fuqua is a great school! Most of the professors are excellent, the students are very intelligent and helpful, and the environment is one which facilitates and promotes educational, interpersonal, and social skills. -- Marketing

The culture that Fuqua fosters is supportive, challenging, and intellectually stimulating. At times we all feel weak individually, however, your classmates and professors won't let you fall -- it truly is a team! -- Finance

[Fuqua] is a well-respected school with excellent faculty. It also has the advantage of being a new school. Everyone at the school, including the students, are eager to continuously improve the program. I was extremely satisfied with both the academic experience and the job opportunities. -- Investment Banking

[Fuqua] allowed me to think broadly and understand the dynamics of a successful company. It made a better negotiator, decision maker (exposed me to tools to evaluate decisions quantitatively), and a thoughtful thinker (understand the impact of the issue and come up with a good solution). Overall, it gave me confidence. -- Information Technology

It was an unforgettable experience, both academic and personal! Tough to do it with a wife and two kids, but definitely worthwhile!!! -- Anonymous

Fuqua prides itself on being a diverse school and realizes it's full potential in the students it brings in. To describe the school would be to describe the type of people who are willing and eager to become involved in every facet of the Fuqua community and contribute in every way. The amount of student involvement is greater than any other institution I have seen and it completely brings credit to the 'Team Fuqua' concept. More than can be described in a few short paragraphs, this is a TEAM environment. -- Finance

Fuqua was a great experience. I learned so much about teamwork, strategy, setting goals, time management, etc. I also received great practice in financial analysis, marketing planning, and entrepreneurship. It was definitely one of the best decisions of my life. -- Marketing

The MBA experience has provided me with the confidence, the strategic thinking, and the decision-making ability that I needed to make myself better. Moreover, it has prepared me well to run a successful company and pursue my dream of building an empire. I am really proud of having a Duke MBA. Brand makes a difference and I felt it during my one-month discover USA trip after graduation. -- Information Technology
