CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

I believe that the skill set I learned at Emory University cannot be matched when I compare it with my peers graduating from other schools. My relative performance on the job proves my point. In this economy, this element alone is a key differentiating factor for success. -- Finance

Historically, Emory has been a regional school. However, the administration, faculty, and students are committed to improving the quality of education and caliber of the school. It will not take long before Emory is widely recognized as one of the best MBA schools in the country/world. -- Investment Banking

I have talked to a number of MBAs from various business schools around the country and I believe Goizueta does a great job in finding quality through the selection of professors who are willing to spend time with students. These professors are available to us even after graduation. This is an enormous resource as we get started in our post MBA jobs as well as in building networks of mentors and colleagues. -- Marketing

Goizueta is a school on the rise, essentially already among the top schools in the country, but constantly thriving to be better. The program offers a variety of teaching methods, although predominantly case oriented. Opportunities are aplenty to further your learning outside the classroom, whether through competitions, clubs, internships, etc. It's an environment that I would best describe as communal competition... we compete with each other, but not at the cutthroat level. -- Marketing

Goizueta is a small business school. It has a family atmosphere. Very teamwork oriented. Great exposure to the Atlanta business community as well as to CEO's of Fortune 500 companies. Unlimited leadership opportunities. The program office listens and acts on student/faculty comments. Always open to suggestions. Continual improvement of the programs. I was in the One Year Accelerated MBA program. Phenomenal, getting an MBA in a year. Very supportive environment. -- Marketing

Shopping for the right MBA program is like shopping for a new pair of tennis shoes. The coolest ones, the ones every candidate wants to attend, are not necessarily the ones that fit the best. In the top ranked schools, the programs will offer pretty much the same thing. The school that intuitively seems like the right fit might be the best fit whereas the one where you killed yourself to get an offer and did not, might be better left for someone else. -- Finance

Having the faculty on hand is a huge bonus, plus learning from peers is a big part of accumulating business skills in both academic and non-academic environments. -- Anonymous

The atmosphere that evolves around a full-time MBA program recreates many of the challenges and situations students will face in the professional world. That is definitely not attainable through a distance-learning program. In addition, the network among peers of the same program constitutes one of the more valuable assets that students take with them once the program is over. -- Finance

One of the first things I noticed when I came to the school was the incredible commitment that faculty and staff showed towards the goal of becoming a top tier school. They are driven by that goal, and their openness and responsiveness to suggestions and critiques get students involved in the pursuance of that goal. I really enjoyed the feeling that we were making history for our school, and now at work, I feel equally driven to carry out the challenge. -- Finance

Goizueta Business School is a strong, student-focused MBA which will eventually become the key educational center of the South and is very likely to compete among the top B-schools in the world. It is young, flexible, and most important, its main focus is on the advancement and preparation of the student and future businessperson, which seems to be a lost cause through other business schools. -- Entrepreneurship

I chose this program because it offers a unique, challenging, accelerated (one-year) format that gets me back in the workforce quickly. Also because of the school's small program with a collaborative (rather than competitive) emphasis. -- Finance

Collegial environment/very personalized. It is a great program for people like me who came to B-school without any business classes taken before. Program is very global, dynamic, and incorporative of current changes in the marketplace. Learned a great deal from a tremendous set of speakers throughout the program! [I] was mostly impressed with administration's receptivity towards students' suggestions - faculty, staff, students - everybody knows pretty much everyone's name and is very caring! School provides great opportunity for developing leadership and communication skills. I couldn't have made a better decision two years ago!! -- Information Technology

I believe Emory represents the perfect balance between education and social atmosphere. I have already encouraged three friends to turn down higher ranked schools for the Goizueta experience. Atlanta provides the necessary business connections, while the faculty created a positive learning experience. -- Sales Management

The Goizueta experience is absolutely amazing. I became part of a family here and the relationships that have developed are incredible. I would highly recommend this MBA program to anyone who values the importance of higher education. -- Finance

My experience at Goizueta has been incredibly profound. I had the opportunity to try my hand at a host of educational, social, and business-related endeavors that I could not imagine being exposed to in any other venue. The synergy within the school among faculty, alumni, students, and "friends" of the school is quite powerful. Goizueta and Emory University's synergies with the city of Atlanta are equally so. I am certain that I would not have had the opportunity to lead (first-year president of my class) or learn as much as I did, had I attended another school. The Goizueta MBA has been a uniquely transforming event that has opened horizons to me I could not have even dreamed of just two years ago. -- Consulting
