CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

The teaching method is interactive; it requires the student to be an active participant in the discussion. The intensity of the first year cements a lot of concepts that are needed for the second-year electives. Charlottesville is a very good place to focus on studying. There are no social distractions. The town is big enough to have life outside B-school, especially for families. -- Operations

It is truly a transformational experience. No ticket punching at Darden. You learn how to think about many different businesses across a host of functions. -- Investment Management

This program is challenging, and stretches students to achieve and grow. If people are serious about leaving a good job to go to business school, they will get a tremendous value for their time, money, energy, and foregone earnings at Darden. The school knows that it asks much of its students, and creates a great, supportive family-type atmosphere to help balance the experience. -- Investment Banking

There is no doubt in my mind that Darden is the best MBA program in the country. The teaching/professors, the methodology, the facilities, the students, the culture, and the support staff are all top caliber. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

The total experience at Darden completely exceeded my expectations. I would admit that times were tough, but they are at any school. I think that the things that really distinguished my experience were the outstanding professors, the other top quality students, and the close-knit community at Darden. I made great friends and learned a lot during my two years here. Because of all this, I would definitely recommend Darden to my friends. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

I would only urge people that fit the school [to attend], and in such cases, I would DEFINITELY urge. The learning experience throughout the two years is unsurpassed, based on my discussions with friends at other top schools. The work is as hard as advertised or harder, but the value I've gotten from the school as far as education and relationships is immeasurable. -- Entrepreneurship

Darden is a teaching school that emphasizes learning and teamwork above all else. This is what I value in education. I would recommend this to any friend. -- Consulting

Darden exceeded my expectations in all arenas. The students and faculty are great, and the school truly educates you and prepares you to tackle the business world afterwards. I feel that no other school can compare to the Darden experience. -- General Management

The Darden MBA experience is truly an experience in leading with a different mindset. It has given me a superior competitive advantage. I would most definitely recommend this program to all who want to be leaders of the future. -- Investment Banking

Darden does an almost magical job of imparting knowledge to its students both in and out of the classroom. The culture is incredibly collegial and the faculty focuses on teaching, not research. I found the size of the class and school to be ideal and the facilities are the best in the world, in my opinion. -- Energy Industry

The problem-solving and interpersonal leadership skills learned at Darden go vastly beyond the development of a standard MBA skill set. The faculty is second-to-none and has the most direct impact on the quality of your education. The facilities, especially with the three buildings just opened and the two new buildings to be opened by the fall, are heads and shoulders above those at any other B-school I've visited. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

Darden was a tremendously life altering experience. It was rigorous but supportive, stressful but fun. I would recommend Darden for three reasons. First, it’s case method, which is far superior to lectures. Second, the class is small, so you know everyone very well and therefore build a great network. Third, the program is rigorous and the professors are outstanding, so problem solving becomes instinctive. -- Finance

Darden is a very challenging environment. To do well and to benefit from the experience one must be willing to work very hard. Therefore, I would only recommend that friends attend Darden if they were truly willing to put in the appropriate level of work. -- Finance

Darden is an amazing place. The faculty are routinely ranked the best in the world, the school is small enough for each student to leave a lasting mark, administration is amazingly responsive, job opportunities are amazing, alumni are amazingly responsive and Charlottesville is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Who in the world could ask for anything more? -- Consulting

Darden really helps students learn the subjects taught due to the case method. The case method allows for flexibility since students need to work with their learning team members to teach themselves the material and to get through the volume of work required for case preparation. This situation mimics real life and forces students to prioritize their workload. -- Consulting

I believe the experience at Darden is exceptional thanks to the quality of faculty and the emphasis the school puts in a quality class environment. The resources available are tremendous. Nevertheless, the most important issue is that Darden has the best environment to spend your two years of MBA study. The community is exceptional and the university provides a fun environment. -- Finance

Darden was a life-changing experience. My analytical and critical thinking skills have dramatically improved over two years, as has my general business acumen. -- Finance
