CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

Boston College provides an excellent education in finance, which is the reason I chose the school. The B-school is small which allows fantastic access to faculty yet you still have the resources of a large university. The faculty is available to students and takes a genuine interest in the education and development of the students. -- Finance

The program is strong and faculty/curriculum is improving, however the return in this economy is difficult and the ability to attract recruiters was limited. -- Finance

In addition to a strong core curriculum, Boston College provides the opportunity to gain "real world" experience through the core Consulting and Business Plan projects in the first year. In addition, the emphasis on teamwork throughout the program provides excellent training for today's corporate team based culture. -- Marketing

Boston College has a great MBA program that focuses on out-of-the-classroom experience beyond the traditional case study approach followed by most other institutions. -- Marketing

While researching BC, I knew that it was a tight knit and close community fostering a collaborative and competitive environment, but I was truly impressed with the level of personal contact the administration and faculty made while I was there. Certainly a very special place. MBA Admissions is also doing a great job in growing the selectivity and strong reputation of the program, certainly a key driver to any school's success. -- Corporate Strategy

It is an excellent experience that focuses on teamwork and practical experience. I learned more than simply "the basics" and the environment/tone was welcoming and supportive among the students and faculty. -- Nonprofit

Since the program includes both a business plan competition and a consulting project, it is very good for people looking to develop actual business skills rather than just discussing case studies. The alumni network is large and rabid. It may be the best school to attend for people looking to stay in the greater Boston area in terms of alumni connections. Also, it is relatively easy to complete dual degrees. The faculty is very accessible and the students are a great bunch of people. -- Finance

Boston College excelled in the area of developing a sense of teamwork and learning to work well with others. In addition, the opportunity to write a business plan, consult to a real company, travel abroad, and participate in a summer internship (all within the first year) is a unique learning experience. -- Human Resources

BC is undervalued in the business school market place. The network of alumni is amazing and extremely supportive. You get to establish personal/strong relationships with all of the faculty and the BC career services [office] does a remarkable job in trying to find employment opportunities for all graduates of the program. -- Marketing

The Consulting Project and Business Plan were great experiences. The Boston College program has a great group of people (both students and professors). -- Accounting

The only thing that is holding Boston College back from climbing up the rankings is its career services department. Otherwise, the education and experience is excellent.

[Do you feel you could have learned as much from a distance-learning MBA program?] Teamwork and structured interaction with a real business community seem indispensable elements of a "practical" education. -- Finance
