From a total learning experience, it was the best program. It was not the highest-rated program, but it was the best top 50 program enabling me take advantage of all opportunties because of the schedule and geographical proximity. Many of my courses were exceptionally good.--Finance
[Changes to program?] More emphasis on international ways of approaching issues. The clasroom discussions were often too focused on the U.S. marketplace.--Management and Engineering
The Graduate School of Management provided me with the rigorous academic environment that I was looking for in a program. The emphasis on Information Technology is extremely relevant in today's business environment. The contacts I made while in the program will benefit me for the rest of my career.--Sales
The program exceeded my expectations in some areas and met my expectations in others. Although I was at a high level in my organization, to ensure mobility outside of my organization an MBA is required. I would select UCI again based on the quality of instructors, school reputation, and the fact that the program is on campus.--Business
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Most of the instructors have been teaching EMBA courses for many years and they know the needs and expectations of the students. They generally lack the knowledge of the real world.--Engineering
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Some of them treated us with more respect than others. Most of us were roughly the same age as our professors, yet some of the professors treated us as if we were kids rather than peers.--Real Estate
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Strengths were the ability to challenge students and bring about critical thinking instead of rote memorization. Instructors tailored the learning around what executives would need to know vs. what would be taught to those with no work experience. Weaknesses would be the lack of teaching style with some of the instructors. This sometimes made it hard to remain engaged with the class.--Marketing
[Changes to program?] Some of the classes involved mostly lecture. It would have been useful to integrate more in-class exercises or play out mock situations to drive some of the teaching points home; or to actually get out and consult with companies that were having real problems. This was done with one class and this was the most valuable part of that class.--Marketing
[Corporate support?] While my employer agreed to pay for the program, I do not feel the President/Proprieter really supported my efforts. He does not see that an MBA adds value. Unfortunately I am at the peak of my current position, and will not be provided the opportunity to prove the value I can contribute.--Research and Development
[Corporate support?] I think the company could have taken better advantage of what I was learning at B-school, since this was directly relevant to many business issues they were facing. After all, they were paying for the program.--Marketing
This was an excellent, top-notch program that compares with the best EMBA programs in Southern California. The Graduate School of Management at the University of California is a great school that you will see rise in the rankings in the next few years.--Sales
