[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] One strength was their ability to apply the real life experiences provided by the EMBA students to the theory and logic offered in the course studies. Another was the inclusion of current events in the course study. A weakness by very few of the instructors was their lack of understanding of the heavy workload on EMBA students. Some required way too much work. --Finance
[Improvements?] Rice did about all they could during the application process to convey the change in lifestyle accompanying the Exec MBA program. They attempted to mentor spouses and/or significant others, and administratively dealt with many issues. Having completed 16 years of night school (the old fashioned way), this EMBA program was a big improvement. --Operations
The MBA is a piece of the puzzle in managing your career. The payoff is often not seen immediately and requires you to continually look for areas where the lessons learned can be applied. Coming out of the program, I am fundamentally a different person whose perspective is entirely different. The MBA program is one of the better decisions I have made in my life. --Operations
I looked at several programs throughout the country. I only applied to Rice because I truly believed it to be the best fit for my personality, learning style, and career aspirations. Completing the EMBA program at Rice served to strengthen this belief. I would absolutely attend Rice again! --Marketing
I really liked the way Rice put together its curriculum. Courses within a semester were integrated and the knowledge gained was used as a foundation for subsequent courses. Rice's approach is to develop leaders with skills. There was thus a balanced approach that ensured all business disciplines were covered. --Strategy
The EMBA program at Rice was geared towards executives and mid level managers. The courses were structured in a logical way. I enjoyed the classes and the discussions in the class. --Operations
Well-rounded program that attempts to keep up with the latest business management trends, but at the same time is focused on creating a sound basis for traditional business concepts, such as finance, marketing, and accounting. The University emphasizes the improvement of those skills necessary for success in the business world. --Planning
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] The greatest strength is their ability to relate course material to "real-world" applications. The only weakness might be the somewhat narrow experience level in the business world, specifically the oil and gas industry. --Management and Underwriting
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Many of the tenured professors were graduates of distinguished universities and skilled instructors. A number of the adjunct professors were newly hired and had no experience teaching executives, thus their teaching methods were less effective. --Engineering
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Professors were able to draw on the work experiences of students and tailored the lectures to the particular audience. A weakness was that instructors were not always willing to accept criticism or modify their teaching style when students gave feedback. --Operations
[Changes to program?] I would have liked the opportunity to incorporate problems I was dealing with at work into the program assignments. A few classes did that and I felt I learned more when the concepts were directly applied. It also helped my employer see the value added. --Engineering
[Improvements?] The Executive EMBA lounge and coffee area was closed during off-school days. The opening of the lounge and coffee area would have facilitated a better day-to-day experience. --Accounting
[Improvements?] Rice University made the experience very easy with all books, computer, meals, etc. included in the lump-sum price. This helped both logistically and with not having to "go back to the well" financially with my supervisors at my company. --Finance
[Corporate support?] My company paid my tuition, granted the flexible work hours, and gave me more responsibility during this period and afterwards. I didn't expect any salary treatment directly related to my degree. However, the pay increase was better than what I expected. Couldn't ask anything more! --Operations
[Corporate support?] My company was very supportive and accommodating of my schedule during my EMBA program. I work internationally and the company was willing to accommodate my class schedule when trips became necessary. I didn't have any expectations of immediate bonus, salary increase, or promotion upon completion of the program, but I do expect to reap some longer-term benefits from having obtained an MBA. --Technical Geoscience Supervisor
The Rice EMBA program is new to the game. However, the experiences and knowledge I gained as a direct result of my enrollment are immeasurable. I especially appreciate the fact that despite very busy schedules, the alumni are always available to assist and mentor. I believe in the program so much that I myself have recently become an alumni mentor to the new students! --Marketing
