The quality of the faculty and the variety in the student group was excellent. The IMD EMBA includes trips to Ireland, Shanghai, and Silicon Valley, which provided a great opportunity to get your own workplace/environment into context. It was a very good supplement to the assignments which were more focused on your own company. Working on cases, construction cases, on your own company and learning from faculty and fellow students in the process was rewarding.--Marketing
The IMD EMBA was very compatible with my professional situation. It provided much learning and advancement value in a short time.--Operations
Weekend Excutive programs were not possible for me, so the multiweek attendance format of the IMD program suited me best. The international outlook, content and faculty, and participant diversity also attracted me.--Education Technology Management
The emphasis at IMD was on global management. I specifically wanted to avoid a program that was country specific, or biased towards one country. Also, IMD had a strong emphasis on developing the person as well as the head knowledge. This became highly rewarding.--Marketing
I chose IMD because of the small ratio of students to faculty, truly international class, and high ranking of the institute. On top of receiving the above, the quality of co-students and the diversity, as well as the quality of faculty and support services, and the "deep dive" visits to three locations in the world, have proven invaluable to my personal and professional development.--Human Resources
First of all, the IMD program is split into modules that can be attended while working, without too much distress. Then IMD has put in place a program which is very close to the real world. Every time I attended a module I was coming back to work energized with a lot of ideas to test in the field. Additionally, I liked very much the internationality of the participants, who had experience in several different fields and industries.--Finance
The discovery expeditions are of a great value and the experience of a lifetime. The school is small yet open to great ideas and at leading edge in management. They seem to be very close to the real world. The program and schedule allow great flexibility.--Marketing
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Generally good skills, including good skills at obtaining class participation. Good at reconciling practical reality with general management principles.--Marketing
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] The strength was they're at the cutting edge of research combined with practical implementaions skills. Their weakness was the lack of face-to-face meetings during off-campus sessions for personal feedback. Phone or e-mail has its limitations.--Finance
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Most have a strong link to the industries and can provide a balanced view between theory and real life. They are also eager to learn from the participants' experience. This opens room for intensive and fruitful discussions.--General Management
[Faculty strengths/weaknesses?] Seasoned professors with a thorough grip of their subjects. Demanding and creative instructors. Sometimes prone to academic dogmatism.--CEO
[Changes to program?] To be honest I believe it is almost perfect. They do watch their competitors (other schools) and try to get better all the time.--General Management
[Changes to program?] There was too big of a gap between the first year and the second year. During the first year, the pressure to learn and perform was not great enough.--Marketing
[Changes to program?] The impossible task: to allow more time for discussion!--Marketing
[Improvements?] The quality of the rented accommodations, as opposed to hotels in Lausanne, was not wonderful. Generally the day-to day was wonderful because the school is situated beautifully on Lake Geneva and the food was excellent. We had to walk quite far to our accommodations, but that kept us moving about after long classroom spells. There is even a gym on campus.--Marketing
[Improvements?] More sleep!!--Research and Development
[Corporate support?] My company gave me the work flexibility and limited time off for EMBA. I did not expect more since I was on a limited duration contract with the company.--Operations
The EMBA was a great learning opportunity for me and fully functioned as an enabler for a major career switch. It was an excellent complement to an extensive technical education and career. Because of my limited management experience, the learning curve was steep and rewarding. Not surprisingly, common sense, curiosity, and stamina are three main prerequisites to a fruitful EMBA experience.--Operations
