CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

The MBA at Schulich was a pivotal experience in my life. Most MBA programs provide their students with the basic skills needed to succeed in the business world. Schulich introduced me to those skills and so much more as a result of the diversity of both the programs it offers and the students it attracts. I absolutely could not have picked a better program for my needs. -- Consulting

I really enjoyed my time at Schulich (York University). I believe that Schulich has prepared me to take on more challenging management/executive roles now and into the future. I have increased my skill set and further enhanced my communication skills due to the group work required in the program. The students and faculty at the school are knowledgeable and friendly, and the extra-curricular activities contributed to my amazing experience. I think that Schulich offers a great MBA program, and the tuition is very reasonable when compared to schools of similar calibre. -- Investment Banking

Schulich offers tremendous diversity or program specializations and continues to grow and evolve in this area. As well, Schulich supports and promotes diversity within the student body as demonstrated by the range and wealth of international experience. -- Marketing

The Schulich School of Business has many problems associated with it including its location in Toronto (North York), the strategic field study process, and an admissions process that involves admitting those who are not competent (resulting in some students shouldering most of the work in the many group assignments). -- Human Resources

Apart from being an excellent bargain, the program offers a variety of steams outside of the traditional finance, accounting, etc. For example (Arts & Media, and Non-Proft Management) are offered through the Schulich School of Business. I have plenty of classmates who have chosen to pursue non-traditional MBA disciplines (and they have thoroughly enjoyed it). And it rubs off -- I have found myself drawn to business environments within a volunteer/non-profit setting. One quickly learns that an MBA need not be synonymous with Investment Banking, Brand Management, or Management Consulting. -- Consulting

Innovative. Highly relevant. Diverse. Wide-ranging business education programs. Excellent and very knowledgeable faculty. A premier international business school. -- Investment Banking

Toronto is a great place for business since it is the business hub of Canada. Therefore, it made sense to me to do my MBA there. Furthermore Schulich is pushing its faculty and students to become well-rounded, and leading business people and this is what I wanted from the school. Anyone considering doing an MBA should definitely look into this school. -- Family Business

I would recommend the same MBA program to friends and colleagues, however the program could be strengthened with a mandatory co-op placement, professors with more industry experience, and more networking opportunities with business professionals from high-profile companies. -- Marketing

The student body provided little in terms of education via shared experience. Professors were weak in many areas -- little attention seemed to be paid to current students, more of a focus on recruitment (relied too heavily on rankings). -- Marketing

An MBA is a great experience and an investment. Schulich provides an opportunity to interact with people from many different cultural backgrounds. This is what definately added to my experience. -- Finance

[Would you recommend the school to a friend, etc.?] Depends on what they are looking for in an MBA -- Schulich offers innovative specializations such as the Nonprofit Program, Arts and Media Admin., Bus. and Sustainability, and offers experiential learning. But if they want traditional specializations like Finance, Accounting, Marketing, another school may be better. -- Nonprofit

I had a fantastic experience at school...much better than I was expecting. Probably the biggest tangible benefit to doing an MBA at Schulich was that I learned what I needed to learn to land the exact job I wanted (Wall St., I-banking) and at a third the price of a big-name U.S. school. -- Investment Banking

Poor quality of MBA candidates. Most of my classmates had very little, if no, job experience. -- Venture Capital/Private Equity

Granted I have only experienced one MBA program, but I believe that in Canada, the Schulich MBA is unparalleled. Highly international, diverse, and relevant -- the experience was amazing. As I enter the workforce in a dream position for me at an amazing firm, I reflect on my MBA experience positively. The ends justify the means, if you will. Ultimately, for a Canadian MBA, I made the right move. -- Marketing
