CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

I find the teaching at Wharton is very hands-on. As such, anyone, regardless of his or her background, will benefit from the study at Wharton, particularly in terms of operation, strategy, and marketing. The program will also enable someone to think more logically and strategically in his or her future career. -- Entrepreneurship

At Wharton I didn't just get on track for a new career, make great friends, and join a great alumni network, I was exposed to successful people in every phase and stage of business. I believe that only at Wharton would I have been able to learn about so many different potential career paths. -- Consulting

I would encourage friends to enroll at Wharton if it is a good fit for them. It is an incredibly intense, albeit rewarding program, and every prospective student should evaluate his or her needs relative to the program culture and opportunities. Wharton was absolutely the right choice for me, but that may not be the same for everyone. -- Consulting

Wharton gave me an enriching diverse experience with interesting classmates, fantastic teachers, and a great student-run approach to the school, which encouraged leadership and teamwork. -- Nonprofit

The Wharton program is well balanced, containing a good mixture of cases, lectures, projects, etc. It is rigorous and prepares students for the tasks they have to carry out in the business world. As a finance major, I noticed that the material taught here is very relevant to what I did during my summer internship in the corporate finance department of a major financial institution. -- Finance

I personally respect intelligence, initiative, and humility and found them all at Wharton. Moreover, the diversity of the student body is one of its great strengths and Wharton ensures it. Last but not the least is the faculty and the quality of the academic training. -- Consulting

This is an exceptional school with a very international character, both in terms of the academics and the student body. I was part of the first Wharton International Culture Show and the second one during my second year. This is but one testament to the "international-ism" of the Wharton School. It’s a critical component in the business world we will be entering, and rightly so, a critical component of Wharton's business education. -- Entrepreneurship

By all means, would I recommend friends and colleagues come to Wharton. I know that I don't have anything to compare it to, but the amount of business savvy that I gained as a result of being immersed in a business academic setting, where you have the freedom to explore business concepts with people who have a remarkable capacity to learn and to experiment intelligently, is life altering. I'm sure that this is possible at other schools, but I know that Wharton is a sure bet in terms of guaranteeing that you will come out as sharp as you are capable, in business. -- Entrepreneurship

I think the school offers an incredible balance of subject matters, an outstanding environment, the professors are the best, and the city of Philadelphia is large enough to have the things one would expect from a metropolis and small enough so that you meet colleagues in the streets while you walk safely. -- Marketing

I think it's the finest education available, but also includes the prestige to open the requisite doors. Most of the firms I interviewed with only recruited at three or four schools. I'm glad I chose to attend Wharton; it gave me not only the skill set to be successful, but also the opportunities to exercise those skills with the leading companies. -- Finance

My experience at Wharton has been phenomenal. Not only have I met my goal of learning business fundamentals, I also developed a strong sense of confidence when it comes to interacting with business professionals and my ability to develop and execute a business plan. -- Investment Banking

Wharton is a great mix of lecture, case study, and real-world projects. Moreover, the six-week class structure allows one to take a variety of classes to see what he or she finds interesting. It's like an all-you-can-eat dessert smorgasbord. I found the chocolate cake to be in Finance and Strategy. The fruit was in the General Management classes. -- Finance

This year's MBA job market was the worst in 30 years, some people say. Wharton grads were hit hard like everyone else. That being said, I am a strong believer in the quality of this program and would wholeheartedly recommend it to friends. In these troubled times, what makes Wharton unique is its spirit of initiative, student involvement, and continual improvement. This is what will be required from future business leaders. -- Consulting

My MBA experience at Wharton was everything I envisioned it would be; the perfect vehicle to make a desired career transition into a field unrelated to my previous body of experience, an opportunity to build a strong network of new business and personal contacts, an avenue toward rounding out my previous business education, and a wonderful vacation from the professional world. -- Finance

Wharton has exceeded my expectations and I'd urge friends to strongly consider the program. It has everything one could want from an MBA program. The school is large enough to offer vast resources and opportunities, yet at the same time the learning team/cohort system makes it feel like a much smaller school. The professional opportunities are unparalleled. -- Investment Banking

It's simply the best MBA program, hands down. It opens the most doors, in the USA and abroad. No one questions you with a Wharton MBA, there's instant credibility. I'm on exchange right now at INSEAD in France and it's clear to me how much Wharton is respected. I'm no ego-maniac at all, in fact, I'm quite surprised by all this, but perhaps I shouldn't be. This is why I advise friends to go to Wharton, and this is why I'd do my whole MBA again at Wharton. A Wharton MBA is recession-proof and travels well. Can't get any better than that. -- General Management

The most internationally focused, cutting edge MBA, with the most collaborative culture possible. Wharton was simply an amazing experience. For students who are serious about learning, about business and themselves, through courses, classmates, and extra-curriculars. Open-minds and risk takers wanted! -- Consulting

Wharton delivered on its promised mission statement and provided a robust learning experience, populated with a diverse group of people from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. The academic rigor is only one component to what amounts to an exceptional personal and professional program. It is hard to imagine replicating this experience at any other business school or academic institution. -- Consulting
