School's investment in technology over the past three years: $44,000,000
Technology changes made over the past three years:
With the opening of Jon M. Huntsman Hall in Philadelphia and Wharton West in San Francisco, the school seeks to develop a living laboratory for exploring new paradigms in learning and education. Huntsman Hall's 327,000 square-foot academic center includes 48 classrooms, 57 student group study rooms, lecture halls, auditoriums, and conference rooms. The technology throughout Huntsman Hall and Wharton West allows faculty and students to easily interact with each other and with their colleagues around the world. Through the auspices of Wharton's Alfred West Jr. Learning Lab (www.wharton.upenn.edu/learning/), the School's new development center and experimental laboratory for exploring new methods of instruction, Wharton faculty are developing teaching tools that combine interactive multimedia, streaming video, and online simulations. The School's facilities allow faculty to use these interactive learning tools in their classes in Philadelphia or jointly with students in Wharton West and Wharton's partner institutions around the world. Knowledge@Wharton (knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu), the School's biweekly online magazine, provides business insights, information and research to over 200,000 registered subscribers. Wharton's Research Data Services, or WRDS (wrds.wharton.upenn.edu), has become the standard for academic data research -- now licensed to 71 business schools around the world.
