CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

I was extremely pleased with the quality of education that I received at Rice. I enrolled at the school largely because of its small size and my belief that this would allow tremendous interaction among students and between students and faculty. Rice met all my expectations in this regard. The teaching quality has been extremely good, and the staff works hard to make the MBA experience the best it can be. -- Corporate Development

The program is continually revised, and is getting better. I would not recommend the program to friends until I know that the administration has made great strides to improve the experience. The new building will be a much-needed element of that improvement. -- Marketing

Rice is moving up in the rankings, has a brand-new business school opening in June of 2002, and is committed to becoming a top ten school. -- Accounting

I believe that Rice is the best program in the region and is beginning to viewed as such by the marketplace. I have and will continue to urge my friends to apply. I believe the new facilities will continue to attract top faculty and students. It's a great opportunity. -- Investment Banking

I was amazed at how much I learned. The learning was not just technical, but my way of thinking changed. The program is intense, allowing students to be exposed to a lot of subjects. I think the class size, just under 200 students, is perfect. I have strongly recommended Rice MBA to my husband, and he is currently filling out his application. -- Operations

My background was purely technical and I had moved up as high as I could without a business background. Attending Rice has allowed me to gain the business knowledge through a tailored program that met my career needs. -- Management

Rice exceeded my expectations. The program was of great quality, as professors and the curriculum alike pushed students to excel. The caliber of each student was a motivating factor as well. -- Finance

This school offers high-quality education and has a prestigious image. It also offers perfect faculty interactions and business contacts. Above all, it is very much undervalued. -- Entrepreneurship

The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management is an excellent program. It is small, but growing; challenging, but enjoyable; and just a great experience. While other schools are caught up in what they have been, the Jones School looks to where it can go. -- Consulting

I had a fantastic experience at Rice. I've met the CEO's of countless organizations, listened to Alan Greenspan speak, and had great learning relationships with my professors. The small size of the school allows students to get a lot of bang for their buck. The new building is gorgeous and state-of-the-art. Classmates were very impressive, a lot smarter than I expected. -- Investment Banking

The school is very conscious about improving its image, educational effectiveness, and contact with potential employers, both in the Houston area and in other, non-traditional areas for Rice. I believe that students get a lot out of the school's current push to improve. -- Project Management

The size of the program allows students to take their studies to the next level due to the direct interaction with and open door policy of the faculty. This is not available at most schools. -- Marketing

I believe the experience of the Rice MBA program offers students the opportunity to not only learn business fundamentals, but also provides the perfect platform to develop leadership, time-management, communication, and personal interaction skills. -- Finance

The Jones School has a great learning environment. The school supports new initiatives and considers students’ opinions. The relationship with the faculty is casual and it is not difficult to catch a professor and chat a bit. Most importantly at the end of the two years you are a better person. -- Information Technology

I have more opportunities now than before business school. I am thankful to several professors that have guided me in identifying a different career path than I would have ever believed were possible. At graduation, I am leading my own company, which I attribute to my success at Rice University. Therefore, I would highly recommend the MBA program to any of my friends. -- Entrepreneurship

For the most part the teachers and curriculum were outstanding. The school has a terrific, personal culture that I believe relates to its small size. The social aspect and extracurricular activities were fairly weak, so I would not recommend the program to someone who was not already familiar with Houston or Texas. -- Nonprofit

The school is a hidden gem. Its financial and marketing program is top notch and comparable to the expensive and entrenched schools in the BusinessWeek top 20. You can be assured that professors will spend the time to explain and assist you in your studies and career. The new facilities particularly the school building will be offering broader possibilities of learning first-hand finance and marketing. It also has an up and coming strategies department. -- Consulting

Jones School has an extremely friendly faculty and student body. Friendly, not in the sense of setting loose standards. Friendly, in that you enjoy dealing with them and are seldom menaced or deterred by arrogance although many of the faculty and peers are themselves successful business leaders already. -- Entrepreneurship

Rice has a phenomenal program which has been undergoing a lot of improvement in terms of the curriculum, facilities, and professors. The student body is strong, and I think the program is easily the best in the southwest. -- Finance
