Technology changes made over the past three years:
The school launced a Web-based Knowledge Portal (http://knowledge.insead.edu) and INSEAD On-Line (IOL) (distance learning). The school implemented lifelong e-mail for alumni and an easy access Web-based directory of alumni (the alumni address book on-line). The IOL platform is for executive education offerings (blended learning) in open and custom programs. Internet access was upgraded from 2Mb in 2000 to 20Mb in August 2002. Access to a Internet2 is now available from both campuses for research projects. Video-conferencing facilites have been tested and installed for video over IP. ISDN lines equipment has been added in all lecture rooms for video-conferencing capabilities. Tthe audio-visual equipment has been upgraded in all lecture rooms. All open-access workstations form MBA and Executive Education participants have been upgraded and homogenized. Facilities have been equipped with SmartBoard technology. New PBX systems were installed in August 2000 on both campuses. The upgrade of the network infrastructure from 100Mb to 1Gb on both campuses, Fontainebleau and Singapore, was finalized.
Security was improved with the installation of a new firewall and VLAns. The school also remodeled its server room architecture for security and redundancy and migrated all databases to Oracle 8i, The school is currently in the process of migrating the whole NT platform to Windows 2000.
