CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

The mix of international students, an older age group, and breadth of experience made for an exceptional learning environment. -- Investment Banking

The mix of intelligent and experienced people at IMD gave a vibrant atmosphere in which to learn and share knowledge. For those who are experienced and considering an MBA, I would heartily recommend IMD. -- General Management

I think IMD is a real good school for its realistic and pragmatic approach. The learning process is very interactive and the class is a real international world. We were 83 students and 40 nationalities. The level of my classmates was outstanding. -- Marketing

An MBA program is a very personal thing! The school you chose depends entirely on what you want from the program, how much time you're willing to spend, and other factors such as cost. If any of my friends or colleagues had the same requirements as I did, and were prepared to go without sleep for a year, I would certainly recommend IMD. -- Marketing

Not only does the program cover all functional bases of an MBA program exquisitely, it also emphasizes leadership skills much more than I have heard any other MBA program do. Both within organizations and within themselves, IMD MBA's are more mature and better prepared for the real challenges of leaderships than people from other schools. This is confirmed by a recruiter who recently told me her colleagues are trying to find ways to get rid of MBA's from other schools. They are considered too arrogant and not ready for leadership positions at all. -- General Management

IMD is a general management school with strong links in Europe, but less so in North America and Asia. I would not hesitate to recommend IMD to someone seeking a general management focus and employment in Europe. However, if someone wanted to do investment banking in New York, and did not already have a finance background, IMD would not be the right school as it does not have the specialization or the geographical reach. -- Finance

The IMD MBA is not for everyone. It’s for international managers with proven track records and high level of responsibility. As such, it depends which friends am I talking to. It’s not the best choice for a 25-year old with two years work experience, but may be ideal for someone with eight years experience who wants to shift his or her career to overdrive. -- Marketing

IMD is a place for personal capacity development for any person who has the ambition to create, lead, and make things happen. IMD develops a very wide range of skills both professional and for life in general. IMD develops leaders not only for the corporate world but also for society at large. The small size of the MBA program allows student to know each other very well and the attention we get from faculty is personalized. Logistic organization is so supportive that the students have nothing to do but concentrate on the program. IMD helps develop an excellent people network. -- Business development

Many people talk about doing global business. But business is about people, understanding them, and knowing how to work with them. I don’t think there is any better environment to learn this or enhance these skills than at IMD where the class is small and intimate and the nationalities represented span the globe. No one culture or language dominates and there are different opinions on everything. This is a challenging and stimulating place to be. I have no doubt that the payback from my IMD MBA in my future jobs and throughout my life will be great. -- Marketing

IMD was certainly outstanding in the way they select the mix and caliber of candidates. There was no focus in terms of background or country, it was probably the most diverse mix one could possibly imagine. I experienced this and the very intense and always changing team work as a very strong nurturing factor compared to what I have observed in other programs. In addition, the IMD environment is a less competitive one. Everybody's success strongly builds on teamwork that is certainly an asset for any upcoming position. -- Consulting

I feel that one learns better in a one-year intensive MBA program than a program with two years. What we get at IMD is not just intensive learning and strong relations but more. It is about changing ourselves and getting the freedom to lead a life we envision for ourselves and for others. -- Business Development

Best year of my life. I feel sure that the IMD MBA program is unique in many ways, and do not believe that there are many programs in the world that I would have enjoyed as much. -- Operations

It is an excellent program but also very, very intense. Not everybody is looking for, or could handle, the IMD intensity. Therefore, I would selectively recommend IMD to friends and colleagues according to their abilities and preferences. -- Consulting
