CLASS OF 2002 GRADUATE COMMENTS

Georgetown is a well-rounded program with a small class size and collegial environment. The faculty is great and the curriculum is well structured. There is a significant amount of teamwork in class and tremendous opportunities to make an individual impact in extra-curricular activities including clubs, conferences, and school events. Further, being located in the community of Georgetown and within Washington, DC, provides a wonderful setting and environment for a complete school, community, and city experience. -- Investment Banking

Georgetown is the right size program, in the right place, with the right people, and got me the right job. What more could I ask for? -- Investment Banking

I would recommend the school given the following factors: good faculty that is almost always available and are genuinely concerned about your needs; great cohort environment where students help each other; school administration makes an effort to listen to student recommendations and implement them. -- Finance

Georgetown MBA was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I was not sure what to expect when I decided to go back to school, but I was not prepared for how much I would learn and how much my perspective and decision-making abilities would be challenged and enhanced. On top of this, my classmates were amazing. I never expected to make so many great friends and get to know such a diverse and accomplished group of people. Half of the value of B-school is in the relationships that you carry back out into the business community. Thanks to Georgetown, I have colleagues all over the world that I can call on. -- Finance

Most programs teach similar course materials. It comes down to the organizational culture created by administration, professors, and your fellow students. Georgetown is a young program populated with dedicated and professional people. This is more important than a less fulfilling experience at a school that relies solely on its name. -- Marketing

I’m happy with just about everything besides career management's inability to bring recruiters on campus during a recession. They should have been able to at least bring five marketing companies on campus given Georgetown's reputation and past relationships with large firms. -- Marketing

Incredible professors, diverse student body, Washington is a great city to live in, and an intensive academic program. -- Anonymous

The Global experience during our second year provided an amazing opportunity for us to consult international companies facing real-time dilemmas. This sets the Georgetown MBA apart from others! -- Investment Banking

Georgetown offers a rigorous program that left me well prepared me for any career path I choose. I would not hesitate to recommend Georgetown to someone searching for a top graduate business program. -- Finance

Georgetown is a place that is going in the right direction and has a lot of things going for it -- brand name and location. I really feel that the next administration will be able to attract excellent students AND professors which will propel the program. Living in a city is a big bonus as a grad student (as a opposed to a small college town like Cornell, UNC, Duke, UVA, etc). -- Consulting

The experience and skills I acquired from the internationally focused curriculum and our first-rate professors were such that I would eagerly recommend the program to anyone thinking about earning an MBA. -- Investment Banking

I'm not sure how much of the bad experience with career management was due to the general economic environment and how much was the career office's fault. Nevertheless, everything at Georgetown was outstanding except the employment support of the career office. I was extremely disappointed in this aspect of my experience here, as were most of my friends. I really believe that Georgetown is headed in the right direction and will eventually get to the top in many areas, if only they can figure out the job placement issue. -- Consulting

The Georgetown MBA is a great place to be. The environment is so rich with people from so many different backgrounds, countries, and career paths that every day you learn something new. The collaborative environment is outstanding. I have 250 great friends now. -- Finance

Our program is academically at par with top schools. The small size of the program, the diverse student body, the strong spirit of teamwork, and the school’s location further enrich the experience. It's a relatively young program, so the environment is one of movement, action, and change. It was an exciting, fun and memorable two years, and I would recommend the program anytime. -- Marketing

It is a new program that still is experimenting. There are some things that still need some improvements. If you want to be part of a community that is helping to shape the future of the MBA, then GU is the place for you. If you want a more conventional school, where everything runs seamless, then probably GU is not the right place for you. -- Marketing

I believe that Georgetown offered a cooperative learning environment that provided intellectual challenge and produced similar results of top ten programs without the hard competitive edge associated with those programs in the top ten. -- Investment Banking

[Do you feel you could have learned as much from a distance-learning MBA program?] One of the great advantages of Georgetown is the interaction with highly talented business people from all over the world. I spent six weeks tucked away in conference rooms writing a business plan with eight other students and only three of us were Americans. In the course of working with these students, I learned about how the Japanese manage large-scale infrastructure projects, bottling operations in Latin America, Human Resource Management in China, and shipping in India. Working face-to-face with people who have varying cultural perspectives and business backgrounds in order to delivery a sound business plan is simply an experience the internet isn't capable of delivering yet. -- Investment Banking

Despite the weaknesses in the career placement office, Georgetown MBA students managed to secure summer internships and full-time employment at strong companies along with MBA students from the other top-ten ranked U.S. MBA programs. -- Investment Banking
