Technology changes made over the past three years:
The College acquired new servers and upgraded existing servers to Windows 2000. The College also upgraded both the hardware and software for its existing Microsoft Exchange server, moving it to newer, faster hardware, as well as upgrading to Microsoft Exchange 2000 and implementing an e-mail virus protection solution. A college-wide wireless network (WLAN) has been implemented. All classrooms utilize SMART Technology and have recently had both data projectors, as well as the document cameras upgraded to the latest in digital technology. The computing labs computer systems have also been upgraded to newer, faster hardware, including flat-screen monitors and optical mice. The type and number of World-Wide Web services provided has been increased, such as access to Internet2 and a new web server specifically for enhanced instruction. All systems have been upgraded to Windows 2000 and configured to a college-wide baseline of security. A firewall was installed and configured to provide even greater protection for the college network from hackers, both external and internal. A two-tiered, centrally controlled and monitored virus protection solution was deployed college-wide. In addition, IBM donated an S/390 mainframe computer to the college, and Wal-Mart and NCR donated a Teradata computer.
