TECHNOLOGY

Wireless network in main buildings: Yes

School's investment in technology over the past three years: n/a

Technology changes made over the past three years:
The very latest in technology-assisted instruction will be coming to Olin this fall in the form of a software package called Prometheus. The threaded discussion and chat features of this web-based product will provide students with new ways of interacting online with your professors and classmates. Prometheus will also serve as the online repository for course materials and syllabi. For the first time, the school added a full-time staff person dedicated to eLearning. This year, the school added one-third to its stock of workstations and increased monitor size to 19 inches. The Taylor Lab is now open all year. Beginning in fall 2001, wireless access to the Olin network will be available within Simon Hall. The wireless network will be a single, shared 10 Mbps Ethernet connection. All seats in Simon Hall classrooms are now wired for power and high-speed network connections. The school has also expanded its lab hours.
