Editor's Note: BusinessWeek collected graduate comments in 2000 during its ranking of full-time MBA programs. The next ranking is scheduled for fall, 2002.
The Instituto de Empresa offers student exchanges with schools in other countries during the last three months of their international MBA program. I took part in [this], and it was a very positive experience. The subjects taught at the Instituto de Empresa are of very high quality. The teachers, especially the foreign ones, are very good. Classes are almost never boring. What could be improved is the quality of the school's job placement department (it is not very effective, and the responsible persons are often not too receptive for students' suggestions/needs). --Marketing
Best in my life. --Anonymous
I cannot make any comments on the elective courses, as I did the final part of my MBA in another business school -- Cox school of business at SMU. --Anonymous
I like the IE approach to entrepreneurship. A different vision to other MBAs. --Finance
It has been a great experience through which I did not only enrich my business knowledge, but also my interpersonal and communication skills. It has also put me in contact with the network of the best known employers in Spain. --Finance
The student exchange program is a huge opportunity everyone should consider when taking an international MBA. I went to Mexico. I discovered too many advantages that I couldn't have imagined if I had stayed in the same business school for the whole program. Also, I had the chance to do my internship within an American company in the U.S.A.. That opened my mind even more. Though I haven't reached my "breakeven" [point] yet, I am sure I won't have any problem reaching my goals and plans, specially having positioned myself in the telecomm industry. The "network" you develop during these years, is worth more than the money you invest. The "unfair" thing is that the opportunity cost is not the same for all the students, but eventually you can even recover from this, it is question of strategy. I have hundreds of comments most of them good, so to conclude I will say it was a great experience. --Consulting
I think an MBA at Insituto de Empresa was, overall, a good experience. The institution has some points that need some strengthening, such as career counseling and admissions policies. --Information Technology
After finishing this MBA, I feel really happy to have chosen the Instituto de Empresa, because after [talking] with students from other Spanish MBA [programs], such as IESE and ESADE of Barcelona, I believe that the Instituto de Empresa is the best place you can do it. That's due to the quality of the teachers, the technical resources available, and the variety of the elective courses. --Marketing
I will recommend Instituto de Empresa to everyone who would like to work in the Latin culture. IE is making efforts on providing students the best approach available to the Spanish-speaking business community. --Entrepreneurship
I would recommend the school to anyone looking for learning and a good living experience. I would also advise them that the help they can get from the career placement department is inferior to what is desirable. --Finance
I think that an MBA is necessary to success in professional life. I fully recommend the IE MBA. I am French, and after 15 months I have: An MBA degree in a prestigious institution, am trilingual (French, English and Spanish) and [have had] a wonderful experience in one of the most attractive cities in the world. --Entrepreneurship
