Distance courses offered or planned:
UMBS and FT Knowledge have partnered to create a unique approach to Web-based e-learning to be launched winter 2001-2002. The program, Getting Results Through Others, will be offered to company teams ranging in size from five to 50 participants. The program focuses on fundamentals of management, cutting-edge concepts, and the latest tools for virtual teams. Using customizable elements, interactive activities, and guided selection of action-learning projects, the program enables companies to: (1) Align program content, actions, and results with corporate goals. (2) Engage managers in action-based learning whereby they apply new concepts and tools to the workplace during the course. (3) Extend reach into the organization through team participation and a virtual learning process that is scalable. UMBS faculty are actively involved throughout the course and FT Knowledge technology and support ensures a safe, consistent, robust learning environment.
Plans to extend executive education offerings:
UMBS in 2001 made a major commitment to enter the Brazil market by establishing an office and classroom presence in Sao Paulo. In its initial year of operation, five programs were offered and 11 are planned for 2002. UMBS commitment to the Asia region was expanded through its Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Hong Kong. In 2002, 26 public program offerings will be made in Hong Kong and Singapore in addition a number of custom program offerings. Michigan's presence in Dubai is also expanding. Through its partner, Leading Concepts, seven public programs will be offered. A study committee is now exploring the potential for an expanded Michigan presence in Europe.
