Distance courses offered or planned:
Columbia Executive Education will launch Managerial Problem Solving in April 2002. This program has three interrelated phases that take participants from Web-based distance learning, to face-to-face learning, and back to distance learning again. In the first, pre-program phase, participants complete online self-assessment exercises that measure leadership and change management skills. This makes it possible to customize to participants' learning. The second phase, a three-day, face-to-face learning program at Arden House, Columbia's exec ed facility, focuses on learning proven problem-solving techniques for deciding what organizational changes must be made, as well as a battery of change-management techniques for deciding how to bring about these changes in a smooth, successful, and sustainable fashion. Upon completion of the face-to-face program, participants have an opportunity to practice what is taught by enrolling in Web classes using Columbia Executive Education's distance learning partner UNext.com (Cardean University). Participants consult with program faculty and learning coaches to apply what they practiced on an actual problem they are facing at work that requires real changes to be made.

Plans to extend executive education offerings:
Columbia Executive Education will continue to assess, based on market need, expanding its open enrollment portfolio. Columbia Executive Education has put significant resources in developing new products. New programs less than five years old account for over 50% of open enrollment portfolio. Since the school's programs are being offered all over the world, it doesn't anticipate significant additional investment in buildings and classrooms.
