The Wharton EMBA program is a very well run program from the top notch faculty to the administration. Additionally, my classmates were intelligent and motivated, yet down to earth. The curriculum is continually updated to ensure that current topics are being addressed in the classes, yet the basics are still covered in depth. Wharton brought in professors from both Penn and other institutions to ensure that we were learning from the top professors. Additionally, the professors were eager to draw on the experience of the students, as many of the students are living the course material that we are discussing. --Consulting
The staff really excelled at helping us. They bought our books, organized our schedules, took care of housing, and the food was wonderful. We even had our own workout area. I lived better during my weekends at school than I did at home. Wharton's EMBA program was the best, most productive and enjoyable experience I've ever had. Hands down. --Owner/Partner
The classroom discussions drew upon the extensive work experience of the students. The only weakness was that many of the career faculty members had less "real-world" company experience than many of the students. However, all instructors were at the top of their fields.... The Wharton staff/faculty were invaluable in helping me balance school, work and family. --Marketing
I would have appreciated some improvement in the following areas: 1) The Financial Aid departments ability to streamline the loan application and approval process. 2) The IT departments ability to allow us easier access to all of the libraries wonderful research databases. This was difficult due to company and university fire walls. 3) The career counseling departments understanding of the particular and unique needs of the EMBA student versus the MBA student. --Operations
They combined the theoretical academic teachings with real world practical experience very well. They created a dialogue in the classroom drawing from everybody's work experience. --Finance
The curriculum was well-designed and well-integrated (i.e., many classes reinforced lessons learned in other classes). Most of the professors were quite adept at conveying the subject matter, supporting theory with practical examples, and fielding real-world questions. Finally, the quality of the student body was stellar and appropriately diverse. Getting my MBA at Wharton was a truly phenomenal experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! --Consulting
The program at Wharton was outstanding. Outstanding faculty and outstanding classmates. A great bunch of people. EMBA is the only way to go. It forces you to learn to balance and prioritize. It immerses you in a situation with exceptional people and fosters the creation of bonds that will last a lifetime. --Finance
The only suggestion that would have a tangible impact would be to reduce the class sizes for the core curriculum. The electives were typically smaller and more personal, but 40 to 50 in a core class is not very intimate.... Wharton's EMBA program can hardly be called part-time. Most students spent 20 to 30 hours per week on studies and projects. WEMBA was a tremendous commitment; however, I cannot imagine any more effective way to gain a business education. The students are older and wiser and thus are able to put the material in context. Also, there is no substitute for being able to immediately apply the lessons learned in the program. --Operations
The strengths were their competence, willingness to engage in impromptu challenges, industry experience, innovation and desire for us to understand. A couple of the professors had lost their vigor. The overall grade is excellent. I am a lawyer and put the faculty here with the same high intellectual standards as those of law professors. --CEO
The WEMBA adminstration was wonderful, always willing to help/answer questions. The food at the center could have been better--we were often given the same thing multiple weekends in a row. Really, the day to day was very well planned. --Consulting
Wharton has a great name and most of the professors lived up to my expectations. I wanted a school that would force me to improve my quantitative abilities given that I had a liberal arts background. WEMBA delivered and the most important aspect of the program has been the other "students" I met there who all brought valuable insights and perspectives on the problems they were confronting in the workplace.... Because we were attending class during the tech boom, we tended to focus a lot of our attention on the technology sectors of the economy. More diverse examples of problems from other areas would have been welcome. For example, I work in a service business and would have liked to have more practical discussion about managing in that environment. --Lawyer
Your peers in this program are fantastically talented and have great experiences that help augment the program learnings. The professors are very willing to spend whatever time is necessary with the students to ensure the learnings are understood. --Sales
(Improvements?) The biggest issue is one Wharton already is working on. That is providing new class rooms. Other than that, the experience completely exceeded my expectations. --Program Management
