Managers need a blend of qualities. The program is dedicated to developing those qualities. It provided me with a broad understanding of how business works in the global economy. The program taught me how to open new avenues for growth, as well as how to devise strategies for leadership in increasingly competitive times. --Sales and Marketing
Strengths [of instructors] included several years of experience and teaching in their fields creating a wide knowledge base. Most instructors attempted to learn as much from the students as the students were learning from them. Many used interactive methods of teaching, so that students were not just being lectured to but were part of the core lessons being taught. Weaknesses include the inability for some of the professors to understand the differences between teaching a group of executive-level students versus on-campus, full-time MBA students. Other weaknesses included too much overlap of information from one course to the next, and inexperienced professors in

The School did an excellent job of minimizing the impact on our personal and professional lives without compromising the level of instruction. --Marketing
On the whole instructors were seasoned veterans. Some of the strongest professors were senior faculty members who taught core classes -- Finance, Accounting, Economics. MSU administration continually sought feedback on the quality of the instructors and were willing to make changes to keep/attract the best, most successful staff. Most of the professors were able to command the respect of the students -- not always easy to do with older, experienced (cynical) execs. --Environment
Program strengths were that most of the professors had many years of teaching the subjects and their knowledge of the subjects was very good. Weaknesses were that some of the professors were relatively inexperienced and had trouble teaching in an Executive MBA forum. --Engineering
This program has had problems in some areas for the past few years. Value chain and marketing have been particularly weak. Many of the instructors are outstanding.--Operations
Excellent learning value from students due to selection criteria of students experienced in the workforce and as managers. The structure of the program was excellent. Clearly identified framework, structure, consistent team throughout entire program. --Information Technology
The instructors were excellent with a very strong research background. They were very up to date and understood our backgrounds and experience. They drew out that experience and allowed us to learn from our peers as well as the faculty. I would have liked to have seen more instructors who had a business career before entering academia. --Engineering
The best EMBA instructors knew how to present material to an executive audience--concisely, throughly, and with relevance. The expectation of the instructors was one of mutual respect. Poor EMBA instructors could not link the academic coursework to the students real world (perhaps even that day) experience. Additionally, they failed to understand that the executive audience was dramatically different from the "day" MBAs and the classroom environment suffered substantially. This was the exception though, as those instructors with significant executive education experience did not have any of these issues. --Finance
This was a fantastic program that really made an impact on my professional career as well as my personal life. The wealth of knowledge gained from the program as well as the high level of students represented was invaluable. The international trip was also very rewarding in learning about international management skills. --Program Management
(Improvements?) More time, extend the program. In addition to being more comprehensive, an extended program would allow time for more speakers and case studies. Another area for improvement is cross-functional studies whereby the strategy class would integrate the finance lessons, for example. The faculty should spend more time together to coordinate and merge the overall program versus looking at just their individual section. Finally, the Michigan State EMBA program (being a canned two year program) did not allow for any type of concentration in a particular field of study, nor does it have any type of follow-up/continued study program. --Accounting
Michigan State University's EMBA created a great balance between work, family and school. The quality of most of the professors was exceptional! --Finance
The overall balance of material was excellent -- the professors were topical and were not "academic" in their studies and teachings -- very appropriate content that you could put to use on the job. --Strategy
