GRADUATE COMMENTS

Untitled The quality of the professors was generally excellent and I felt my class was exposed to some of the best teaching available at Fuqua. There were some instances where the teaching was weak given some changes in the faculty, but these were fairly minimal relative to the others. The one issue that should come under review given the Duke experience, is the method of delivery of the educational materials. Duke's Global Executive MBA program combines residency with distance learning. The distance learning portion could have a dramatic impact on the success or failure of the educator. In some instances, professors demonstrated a keen grasp on content delivery while others did fail. The opportunity for Duke to streamline and design content into an interactive, technological triumph is significant. While I believe Duke is much further along than most other institutions, distance learning technology is still limited and Duke needs to continue to develop the technology and remain in the forefront. Until then, it will continue to challenge the potential effectiveness of this program, as much of the technology comes from the creativity and technological expertise of the professor. --Client Management

The instructors were friendly and often participated in activities after class, such as city tours and dinners. They all recognized that the students had a great deal of experience that they could contribute to the discussion, and allowed class time to explore these experiences for the benefit of the other students. --Information Technology

The Duke MBA was the only program which offered the hybrid format of space/place. It allowed for the participants to visit and learn throughout the globe. The organization of the program when studying abroad and on campus was excellent. In the distance learning portion it was reassuring to know that faculty and staff had already been time tested with previous programs. Colleagues were also extremely competent. Throughout the rigors of seeking a top-tiered MBA, classmates were forthcoming and very professional in sharing varied perspectives. --Manager/Director

Fuqua's EMBA program allowed me to learn with students of the highest caliber from a stellar faculty. Furthermore, the experience was delivered in a global context utilizing the latest in both traditional and distance learning technology. No other school comes close to delivering this type of experience. --President

Duke's Global Executive MBA was uniquely and ideally suited to my needs. The format gave me flexibility to meet the unpredictable workload and travel demands of my day job. At the end of the day, the program practiced what it preached - global effectiveness through team collaboration across time zones and cultural boundaries. --Intellectual Property Licensing

The format of the program necessitates that the classroom sessions be very concentrated and quite intense. The quantity of new material covered can be overwhelming. However, given the global reach (students from all parts of the world) of the program, this is probably unavoidable. Moving the venue of classroom sessions every term, while providing new insights and local flavor, is very expensive and prone to logistical problems. --Finance

Jetlag was often a problem on the first couple of days of class, and could make it difficult to complete assignments due in the first week of a residency. This problem is really unavoidable, however. --Information Technology

Duke University's Global Executive program provided extensive coverage through its international residencies and through distance learning portions with participants from the world over. A business person pursuing endeavors on their own, would require an eternity to acquire breadth and depth in learning that the program offered. --Managing Director

Again, not much room for improvement. In my view, this is the premier Global Executive MBA program there is; the level of the classmates was excellent, the faculty teaching was top-notch, the content above my expectations. It's definitely a program that should be much more widely publicized than it already is. For someone like myself, with previous international experiences, and international responsibilities in the work environment, there was no other choice! --Commercial Director

For me, the only thing that could have improved the classroom experience is simply more time in it. We had adequate classroom time, however, I learned so much from my classmates that I wanted to gain more and more knowledge from them. --Strategy
