William and Mary's career office has been lackluster the past two years but the school is attempting to improve it by hiring a new director. Additionally, student initiatives help fill the gap the career office has left. -- Marketing
The school of business does not market itself it well. The career office is incredibly ineffective. -- Investment Banking
I don't regret for one moment choosing William and Mary as my MBA program. I have learned a great deal and feel extremely prepared to re-enter the workforce. My classmates were top notch and the faculty at William and Mary challenge the students, while also providing a cooperative environment. -- Consulting
For the money, the William and Mary MBA is a great degree program. Its course strengths include marketing and finance. It could use some improving in the IT department. The professors are committed, both in and out of the classroom, to helping the students achieve their goals. The career guidance and placement department did not have a person in charge during my tenure at William and Mary, so finding a job/internship was difficult. Now that the position has been filled, I expect the placement office to become more aggressive. -- Information Technology
The core curriculum at my school was tremendous. I learned a once unthinkable amount of information, which I feel I have retained for the most part. The second year was nearly a complete wash out, because the program has virtually nothing to offer elective-wise. The employment office was a total embarrassment. I was offended at their obvious lack of interest in being proactive in any manner. More than half of my classmates were without positions on [May 1] and I am placing this blame solely on the employment office, as these unemployed classmates are, for the most part, solid candidates. -- Finance
William and Mary provides and excellent, well-rounded MBA educational experience that is enhanced by the small class size. While the school has been hurt in prior rankings due to a delay in hiring a placement director, new personnel are in place and the school should quickly climb to the top 25, where it clearly belongs. -- Marketing
William & Mary has a great program. Unfortunately, I feel, that the program is greatly under-funded. More emphasis should be placed on raising funds. The two areas in need of the greatest boost are the facilities and the career services department. The question [on Business Week's survey] asking to name favorite professors was a difficult one to answer. There are several for whom I have a great deal of respect. -- Finance
The school needs a new building and extra resources to hire better teachers. The career and employment department has to work harder to improve itself. -- Operations
William & Mary's relatively small MBA program size allowed a degree of interaction with the faculty and staff that proved to be invaluable, both in terms of the quality of the learning experience and in terms of personal networking opportunities. -- Investment Banking
I interned next to Dartmouth and Duke MBA's...there is no difference between these and a William & Mary grad. I know I am biased, but the school is underrated in is ability to produce a well-rounded candidate.
-- Entrepreneurship
The students at William & Mary are the strongest asset of the MBA program. The learning environment was extremely collegial and stimulating. I graduated from the program with friends from every continent, and with whom I would feel comfortable going into business with -- truly a remarkable group of people. -- Finance
William and Mary provides a very unique, personal MBA experience. The quality of the instruction and the team focus are the key strengths. -- Consulting
