I have recommended the program to several of my friends; in fact, my best friend for 15 years is a current student, and others will follow. The one-year aspect is excellent. Friends in other two-year programs were basically waiting out their last year. They could not wait for it to end. Alternatively, my classmates and I were continuously challenged. The spirit of our class was amazing. We had greater than 50% turnout to our weekly social club. We had greater than 50% turnout to the annual MBA games -- a 20-hour drive away. It is truly something that has to be witnessed. Everyone lives within a five-minute walk from campus and it really feels like a family -- again, 50% of our class attended a thanksgiving dinner at a classmate's house. I have never heard of any other program that has a class like ours. -- Consulting
The Science & Technology focus made the experience even more worthwhile. The technology I use in my current work is in no way more advanced than what was available and used [in the program] (laptop, Palm handheld, groupwire, videoconferencing, etc.) In addition, it was very worthwhile to spend only one year outside of the high-technology market. I realize I am still in touch with what is going on in my market (even though a little rusty). The group of students was of very high quality. I doubt I will ever have the chance to work with such uniformly high quality people. I would do it again anytime. -- Marketing
Queen's MBA has honestly changed my life and made me a better person (that's what my wife tells me anyway). The incredible caliber of my classmates drove me to consistently greater heights and challenged the way I thought about business. Everybody should take this course, if only to learn the life lessons I have about working and leading in the real world. -- Consulting
It was the most intense 12 months of my life to date (and, I am sure, ever). I am glad I did it, but would not want to do it again. I am disappointed that I have yet to find employment, but the time will come. -- Marketing
The Queen's MBA for Science & Technology is an outstanding program. Its emphasis on leading-edge technology and teamwork separates it from other programs. Putting six people of vastly different backgrounds together from the first day to work together as a TEAM for the remaining year is a bold but necessary design of the program. It provides a realistic workplace experience where it is usually difficult to choose your workmates, therefore you must solve your problems in order to produce better results. Also, with the number of people with an average of five years work experience in a scientific or technological role, class discussions are extremely valuable. Each student knows his or her industry well enough to correct
any misconceptions. Furthermore, the focus on Science & Technology better prepares each of us for leadership roles in our industries of interest. Without a doubt, I would recommend this MBA to others. The program, faculty, university, and even the city of Kingston, Ontario are welcoming and provide a positive learning environment. -- Anonymous
It is very difficult for me to express how much the Queen's MBA for Science and Technology has changed my life. It was an incredible experience, and I feel that I have graduated with far more than an MBA. I believe that the program has taught me so much about myself and others, and integrated the entire experience into a package that I can carry with me always. I will never forget my classmates, and I am sure that I will always feel that the days I spent at Queen's were the most influential of my life. The course work was excellent, but it is not what I think of when I recall my MBA. I entered the program with an idea of what I wanted to gain from it. As I progressed through my studies, I realized that I could do more
than what I originally intended. So that is what I am about to do. Queen's gave me the tools, the training, the confidence, and all of the abilities to achieve things well beyond my original intentions. -- Finance
The Queen's MBA for Science & Technology is the most intense learning community I've ever experienced. We learn how to solve a wide range of problems quickly. Yet we keep our individuality intact through the process. With emphasis on teamwork and information technology, the Queen's MBA is the funkiest tribe around! The Queen's MBA for Science & Technology is also the best-kept secret in North America. A full quarter of the commerce undergraduates are recruited by top consulting, financial, and information technology companies in the U.S. I was shocked that U.S. firms were not also actively recruiting my MBA class (graduates have gone to the U.S., but only through their own initiative). Though the same caliber as
Michigan, my school appears to lack the large class size to attract on-campus recruiting as well as the large endowment fund necessary to "win" a mind-share of business executives and reporters across the world. -- Marketing
