Today we hit a new milestone on BusinessWeek.com. A guest column by a reader, Jacob H. Zamansky (left), is among the top five most read and most discussed stories on our site.
We invited Jacob to write “Memo to the SEC: Have Mercy on Investors” after he left a strongly-worded comment on a BusinessWeek blog post by Senior Editor Diane Brady a few weeks back. His remarks on former AIG Chairman Hank Greenberg convinced us that 1) this guy can write, and 2) he has deeply-felt opinions worth reading. He argues in his essay that the Securities & Exchange Commission should punish systemic corruption rather than publicly barbecuing a few big-name crooks.
I think you’ll agree we made a smart choice, even if you disagree with his highly provocative essay on our home page today.
A New York-based lawyer, Jacob is the principal of Zamansky & Associates and an investor advocate. He has been a BusinessWeek reader for 30 years and a BusinessWeek.com reader for 12.
Read his MyTake column and tell us what you think. And my personal thanks and congrats to Jacob for taking on this assignment.
