Michael Orey

Michael Orey is a senior writer covering legal affairs for BusinessWeek, a position he assumed in November, 2005. Prior to BusinessWeek, Orey was a legal analyst at Ziff Brothers Investments. Before that, he was an editor and senior writer for The Wall Street Journal. Orey began his journalism career at The American Lawyer. Prior to that, he was an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Orey is the author of Assuming the Risk, which chronicles the role played by a group of Mississippians in the tobacco litigation of the mid-1990s. He received a law degree from the University of Michigan.
