Susan Berfield

Susan Berfield has been with BusinessWeek since 1999, writing profiles of executives, management and feature stories, and book reviews for the magazine and website. She also conducts video interviews with senior executives for BusinessWeek.com. Her award-winning stories include: "I Can Get Your Kid into an Ivy"; "A CEO and His Son"; and "Do I Look Like a CEO?" Among her recent articles are: "Schultz v. Schultz"; "Coach's New Bag"; and "Is Water the New Oil? (T. Boone Pickens Is Betting On It)". Before joining BusinessWeek, Berfield was a senior writer at Asiaweek magazine in Hong Kong, writing profiles of leading business and political figures. Her cover story, "Ten Days That Shook Indonesia", won the Society of Asian Publishers' Reporting Award and the Hong Kong Human Rights Press Award. She earned a master's degree at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, where she was a Zuckerman Fellow. She earned her undergraduate degree at Brown University; after graduating, she produced a documentary in India funded by Brown's Arnold Fellowship.
