Peter Elstrom

Peter Elstrom was named assistant managing editor for BusinessWeek in December 2007. Prior to that he was the news director for BusinessWeek.com, a post he took in April 2006. Previously he has held a number of positions at BusinessWeek, including senior editor heading the Information Technology Dept., responsible for coverage of telecom, telecom equipment, cell phones, paging, networking, and the Internet; senior writer; and associate editor.

Prior to joining BusinessWeek, Elstrom held writing and reporting posts for Investor's Business Daily, Crain's Chicago Business, and the Chicago alternative weekly New City. Elstrom has been interviewed as an expert on the technology sector by CNBC and CNN, among others. He is the recipient of the Michigan Journalism Fellowship, the Chicago Headline Club's Peter Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism, and the Association of Area Business Publications Award. He was a finalist for the Gerald Loeb Award for his cover story on Worldcom's acquisition of MCI.

Elstrom holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and an undergraduate degree in economics from Northwestern University.
