The winner of the 2009 World Car Award will be named at The New York International Auto Show in April. From a list of 51 nominees voted on by a slate of 59 journalists, the finalists are the 2009 Ford Fiesta (launched in Europe, but also coming to the U.S. in 2010), the Volkswagen Golf (sold as the Rabbit in the U.S.) and the Toyota iQ, which is not sold in the U.S.
Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota…The new Big Three?
To be eligible for the overall World Car award, the contender had to be in production, and sold, on at least two continents during 2008.
I’ll predict that the Fiesta (pictured above) gets the nod.
