New York looks like being next in line for Honda’s natural gas-powered Civic GX. According to Monday’s Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan’s leading business daily, unnamed Honda officials say New York will be the second state after California to get the compressed natural gas (CNG) burner. The $21,760 2005 model produces 100 horse power from its 1.8-liter, 4-cyliner engine and is rated being the cleanest internal combustion yet tested by the EPA. Honda says the 2006 version (above), slated for a May launch at select dealers in California, will produce 10% more horse power and have features comparable to the Civic LX. New Yorkers, though, will have to wait a little longer. The Nikkei reports that a rollout in the fall is likely for New York.
