How to Talk Politics in the Office


Earlier this month, Westgate Resorts founder David Siegel e-mailed his roughly 3,200 employees to say that if President Barack Obama is reelected, he will “have no choice but to reduce the size of this company.” Siegel may be eccentric (his attempt to build a 90,000-square-foot mansion is the subject of a recent documentary, The Queen of Versailles), but bringing political chatter into the office isn’t unusual.
