Fighting Crime in Detroit

Detroit tops the FBI’s list for violent crimes in U.S. cities with populations of 300,000 or more. Yet the return of young professionals to the city’s downtown has helped lead to safer streets. For example, major crimes in the popular midtown area have dropped 38 percent from 2008 to 2011. Below, a closer look.
