DON'T TREAD ON THIS AMERICAN BEAUTY

In regard to "The Rose Bowl may have to punt to the private sector" (Top of the News, Dec. 28), not all topics fit the BUSINESS WEEK agenda. There have been and still are human endeavors, some of them quite spectacular, that are unrelated to the "bottom line." The Rose Bowl extravaganza is one of those endeavors.

Please, in the name of tradition, allow us a few sacred cows.
