Occupy Albany targets corporate loopholes

A coalition of labor, social services advocates and the Occupy Albany movement say corporations are avoiding $1 billion a year through loopholes in the tax law.

The group launched a new website at to back up their effort to get the Legislature to close what they consider loopholes. They want the revenue used to create jobs, for schools, social services, health care and other efforts to help the working poor.

Colin Donnaruma of the Occupy Albany demonstrations says the changes are needed to create fairness.

Michael Kink of the Strong Economy for All Coalition says there's a basic unfairness in the tax rate for working New Yorkers compared to large corporations.
