The U.S. Department of Health and Hospitals says Louisiana is getting a $1.9 million performance bonus for enrolling and keeping children in two health programs, and for simplifying those programs.
The programs are Medicaid and the Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program.
A news release from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says Louisiana is among 23 states getting the bonuses. However the state missed out on an added bonus for an enrollment increase more than 10 percent above its target.
The agency says bonuses nationwide totaled nearly $300 million for enrollment increases ranging from 4 to 27 percent.
