Beverage Association spends $220K lobbying

The American Beverage Association spent $220,000 lobbying federal officials in the third quarter on children's nutrition, food safety, bottle recycling, school beverage guidelines, U.S. Sugar Subsidies and other business matters, according to a disclosure report.

That's 8 percent less than the $240,000 it spent in the second quarter and 24 percent less than the $290,000 it spent in the third quarter last year, according to disclosure reports the group has filed with Congress.

The group represents hundreds of non-alcoholic beverage producers, distributors, franchise companies and support industries.

The group only lobbied Congress in July through September, according to the document filed with the House clerk's office.
